Describe your program and what it does, who it affects
Our school district is trying to improve student’s reading and writing scores on the FCAT. The Learn &
Serve grant gives us the chance to be tutors for younger students who also need help with reading
and writing. As part of our Language Arts class, we learn about reading strategies and how to help
younger students with reading. We then tutor younger students at _______ elementary school. We
also help the elementary school students make their own books, which are kept in the school library.
Describe the results of your program from last year.
Last year we tutored ______students and their FCAT scores improved. The reading scores at our
school also improved, as did attendance and conduct referrals.
