AD raised the point that the Welfare Officers' Day has been held at Hemel Hempstead for the last three years
and feel this event should move around the region. Or, have two days one for South of the region and one for
North of the region.
SE Thought that people who would like the event to take place in another county should contact Avril direct.

8. County Representative reports -
Bedfordshire: New Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are working well together. It is unfortunate that one club

Norfolk: Written report -
Our county clubs continue to be actively involved in upgrading their coaching qualifications and many of our
14+ members are taking advantage of the Proficiency Coaching Award which we have now held 2 courses
within the county and have both been well attended.
The girls county squads continue to be well attended with Alexis Thurston and Bradley Thompson taking
responsibility for the Development Squad at which 6 of our county clubs regularly attend. Plus Sarah Jane
Ingliss with our County Team/Elite Squad which again is well attended usually by at least 4 different clubs,
but we are also always looking at opportunities for other enthusiastic clubs to become more involved.
We continue to regularly host Women's Artistic events, which are always well attended, plus offer
Recreational and Boys competitions annually. There has been request for a county tumbling and possibly
a General Apparatus competition which is now being investigated.
The county was pleased to host a judging course at our local college and would like to thank the region for
supporting it as many individuals have benefited from the opportunity to qualify as a judge and the facility
proved very good for the event.
1. Norfolk will be hosting a Core Proficiency Award at Norwich 4th July and I know that the information has
been made available through the normal Eastern Region procedure.
2. The Artistic Girls will be meeting for their first squad session at the end of the month following our new
set-up due to the Regional change of age to not include the older gymnasts.

and we are very proud of their achievements.

10. Regional Workforce Development Co-ordinator – Gymnastics England have suggested that the east
course costs are lower than other regions.
The subject was debated but the members felt that we cost the course based on the expected expenses and
projected income. Courses are cancelled if insufficient numbers apply thereby insuring a break even or profit

country will be branded GymFusion and festival handbooks will be produced for any organisation who wishes
to run a festival under the branding.
Please could all clubs ensure that they have provided the development team with up to date information on any
work that is being carried out on their training facility whether it is a leisure centre or purpose built centre and
how ever minor the work is. Any club looking for support or funding from any partners (eg. Sport
England) for any future facility developments will need to have their club named in the Regional Facility
Strategy to be considered for funding. Without clubs providing information we can not include them.

James Boyes, BG Leisure Centre Scheme Manager, is working with a variety of leisure centre across the

and pom dance classes can be run under BG insurance by any level 2 or higher coach (tumbling skills can be

J Mor: Springboks Gym & Tramp club have closed, unable to find a new venue. Coaches have gone to other
clubs. Cambridge Uni Trampoline Club have affiliated to the region
We have collected £2,515.00 due to under declared members from 10 clubs
Following a random check of east club numbers with British Gymnastics members it was a shock to discover
the number of clubs that failed to register all their members. Regional clubs and their members are entitled to
a number of benefits so it is unfair that clubs who do not register all their members should receive the same
benefits that clubs who comply with regional rules. I will continue to monitor this task.
Technical Committees Chairs have been provided with a letter from BG that each of their members sign a
Code of Conduct contract. No replies as yet received.
JP On the Agenda for next meeting.
Due to various financial and ethical problems a letter was sent to BG's Welfare & Ethics Office with regard to
a Cambridgeshire club. Despite being informed in March 2010 that gymnasts were training without BG
insurance and have entered competition without insurance or the correct insurance the officials within the club
failed to address the situation, so this matter was referred to H Saxon. In September the club finally paid all
monies due to BG and the region and have now set a new procedure in place for collecting fees.
Regional Awards date set as 29th January. Does any member wish to change or alter these awards or have any
comments on previous evenings.
Sonia Verdicchio of Rotations Trampoline club has offered her and her daughter's services to the Trampoline
Technical committee. I hope the committee will take up Sonia's offer and be able in time to encourage more
volunteers, Nicki Weller needs support to run this ever increasing discipline.
ME: Proposed that only Gym Marked venue are used for courses in the region.
The matter was discussed and JP added that equipment in non Gym Marked clubs may not be up to scratch.
The committee members agreed to this request.
RG: No movement on regional ribbon for medals presented.
Agreed that RG will obtain quotes for this.
JP: Suffolk squads going well under the leadership of Will Banthorpe. The regional teams need new leotards
next year as material no longer available.
