Titanic Survivor Digital Scrapbook

1) Title page (name and age) & graphics throughout the scrapbook. It should look like a scrapbook and be

a minimum of 8 total pages! 10pts

2) Biography page- reason for sailing on the fabulous new luxury liner, others traveling with you, country

of birth, individual and/or family photos. **Only if you can’t find an actual photo may you use a period

photo of someone who may look similar to how you imagine your survivor. 10pts

3) Diary Page 1: You are aboard, writing to a friend just before you leave for the U.S.A. What are your

observations and thoughts? Include passenger class on the ship, location of your cabin, etc. 10pts

4) Diary Page 2: Discuss all the exciting parts of the ship that you have explored during these first three

days. How have you spent your time? What is interesting to you about other passengers or the ship

itself? 10pts

5) Diary Page 3: It is the day after you, a surviving passenger, reach New York on the Carpathia. You want

to write down the dramatic incidents which occurred as the ship sank and during the time you spent on

the lifeboat. What do you write? 10pts

6) One year after the sinking, you have arranged an exclusive interview with Bruce Ismay, the bitterly

criticized director of the White Star Line. This interview is his chance to tell his side of the story. What

are your questions? What are his answers? 10pts

7) Any post-event information that is relevant to your life. What has become of you since the accident?

When do you die? (If available, this is also the place to include any interesting family tidbits…what has

become of your sons/daughters, etc.) 10pts

8) Of course, you will have obtained all this information from some electronic source or document from

an electronic source. In-text citations are not required; however, a Works Cited page is required.

Warning: the resource link below takes you to a page with information for citing every type of online

source you will possibly use (including primary sources such as the ship diagram or photographs, etc.)

So, READ the link!!!! Grading will be harsh for incorrect citations since this is your second time around

with research! 10pts

Owl at Purdue http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/08/

9) Correct Grammar and mechanics (Proofread! Spell check!) 10pts

10) Presentation to the class. 10pts

***It is assumed that all information will be factual unless there is limited information on your survivor.

However, I will be printing off the biographical information for each person, so do not make up anything that

you can find by reading. You are to imagine yourself as this person…with any factual knowledge you gain. Only

if information is missing may you “make it up.”
