Dear Friends of Johnson College:
This has been a year of achievement for our students, faculty and supporters. Despite the challenging economic
environment, the College has experienced growth in terms of the demand for our students, the planning
of an exciting new program, the welcoming of the largest freshman class in our history, and the continued
strong financial support shown by friends of Johnson College.
While our founder, Orlando S. Johnson would not recognize the institution his generous 1912 gift has
evolved into, he would recognize how we have been faithful to the core mission he outlined for the College
to serve as a place, "where young men and women can be taught useful arts and trades that may enable
them to make an honorable living and become contributing members of society."
It is our continuing responsibility to constantly reinvent ourselves to meet the needs of our students while
remaining faithful to Mr. Johnson's challenge. Over the past year we have seen many exciting developments
that do indeed rise to meet Mr. Johnson's intentions and will prepare us for an even more exciting future.
Among the highlights of this successful year include:
* Graduating the first class of the College's Distribution & Supply Logistics Technology Program.
Watching the graduates walk across the stage to receive their diplomas was an exciting moment for
faculty, industry members, students, and their families. It is a moment that will live in all of our memories.
* The academic year saw the final plans in place for the inaugural class of our new Heating, Ventilation
and Air Conditioning Program (HVAC). The program has exceeded our high expectations and in the
end we expanded the target enrollment for the program to meet demand.
* This past academic year culminated with our first off campus graduation held at the
Scranton Cultural Center. What a fantastic event for our students and their families!
It was a wonderful way to celebrate our growth as an educational institution and
was a great way to shine the spotlight on our students and their hard work.
* The College worked to bring prospective employers and community
leaders on campus by hosting a highly successful Greater Scranton
Chamber of Commerce Business Card Exchange. This proved to be
the largest event hosted on campus as we welcomed over 300 people
and showcased our new HVAC Building. The event allowed the
business community to see how much we have grown, both in
physical size as well as in our technological capabilities.
These are just a few of the many events that are sure signs
our institution has taken the respect we always enjoyed
in the community and seen it grow to new heights. The
credit for this growth lies with the dedication of our
Board of Directors, our faculty, administration,
generous friends of the College, and of course, our
hard working students.
I am proud of our past and pledge we will use
the lessons learned from our success to build
an even greater future for Johnson College.
I invite you to continue to join us in this
exciting, ongoing effort.

Johnson College is a very unique place and the alumni and friends who support the College hold a very special place
in our hearts. Each year you offer your financial support to insure the tradition of generosity established by Orlando
S. Johnson in 1912 lives on. This past year our nation, our world, saw severe economic hardship. We are sure our
friends were not immune from the downturn, yet they did not fail to support Johnson College when called upon. Your
spirit and your dedication to Johnson College is shown in the face and promise of each graduate as they accept their
diploma and take their place in the world. A place made possible and affordable by you. With all of our collective
hearts, we offer you our sincere Thanks!
