         The villagers were depending on agriculture, fishing and prawn cultivation for
their livelihood. They were living with whatever they get without expecting anything
from Government.

45. After tsunami, what is the situation of the village?
        All the people are psychologically affected. At present they are overcoming their
fears about tsunami. There are no proper fishing accessories with the people after
tsunami to go for fishing business.

46. What is the level of effectiveness due to tsunami?
    a. Village The salt water entered into the agricultural land, because of it the land is
       no use for agriculture now. Most of the houses vanished and destroyed.

        The people in the village, all belong to Dalit community. So there is no caste or
internal problem in this village.

        Nil

50. What is the people’s general feeling on Government upcoming election?
       50% people support towards opposite party and 50% towards the current
Government. If the government does the needful to the people, in the upcoming election
people support them.

51. What is the government intervention on tsunami relief work?
      The government relief work does not reach the village completely.

52. What is the NGO’s support on tsunami relief work?
      Arunodhaya and Gaid two organizations worked for tsunami in this village.

53. What is the village people opinion about the Government support on tsunami?
      People are very much unhappy about the Government regarding tsunami relief
work.

54. Psychological affected factor for men, women and children?
        Men are more worried about livelihood problems and Women are more bothered
about their daily survival (food and shelter) without any source of income and also about
their children. Youth became very strong in mind after tsunami to face any natural
calamities in future.

55. Village needs:
        1. School facilities and transportation facilities to go to school for the children
        2. Self employment training needed for the women
        3. Rather than fishing for the youth any other job alternatives.
        4. Transportation facilities for the poor people.

56. Solution:
        1. For the benefit of 280 women, starting a dry fish company
        2. Providing scholarship for the school children who are in need.
        3. For transportation, we need to work with the government to make it possible.
        4. Making ropes is a type of work prevalent in this village. A group of widows
are involved. Support is needed.


57. Findings:
         1. Agricultural land is affected due to salt water and cattle and goats were missing
of dalit people.
         2. Dalit people are not added in the list taken for providing support by the
government on relief work.
         3. Lack of awareness to fought against government on their basic needs.
         4. There is no hospital for emergency purpose. They have to go about 30 km to
Marakanam or Pondicherry for emergency or treatment purposes.

58. Suggestions:
       1. Creating awareness among the people to keep their demands to the government.
       2. Medical facilities are very much needed in the village.
       3. Creating alternative jobs.

59. Youngsters dream about his village:

 S. Dhayalan, aged 23 years residing in this village. My parents are doing coolie work.
Water and street lights is the major problem in our village. For drinking water, the
villagers have to go for 1km long. Without street lights, it is very difficult to walk on the
roads during night time. I keep this request to Asha to support our village in these
regards.

59. Youngsters dream about his village:
M.Mohandas, aged 18 years residing in this village. My parents are doing coolie work. I
got 756/1200 marks in XII. I didn’t find a person to guide me for my career after
completed XII. If I want to do higher studies, my family is not in the position to afford
the expenses. Due to poverty and no support, I am struggling myself thinking about my
future. I keep this request to Asha to support children providing scholarship for their
education.

        1. For the benefit of 120 women, starting a dry fish company.

        3. For transportation, we need to work with the government to make it possible.
        4. Making ropes is a type of work prevalent in this village. A group of widows
are involved. Support is needed.

         1. Agricultural land is affected due to salt water and cattle and goats were missing
of dalit people.
         2. Dalit people are not added in the list taken for providing support by the
government on relief work.

         4. There is no hospital for emergency purpose. They have to go about 30 km to
Marakanam or Pondicherry for emergency or treatment purposes.

B.Saroja, aged 18 years residing in this village. My parents are doing coolie work. I am
studying in X standard. In my village there is no proper roads, it is very difficult to go in
night time and water is another major problem. We need to go for about 1km to fetch the
