ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students: Please watch your attendance and grades. If you are over the number of absences (10) allowed for the semester, it is

your responsibility to appeal losing credit for the course. Time will pass. Will you? Don’t be one of the students reclassified or a

senior who did not graduate because you did not appeal or take care of the problem. Finals are the final week of school which

means instruction will continue until the very end of school year.

NEW-- MISSING/STOLEN ELECTRIC BASS. Orange Ibanez 5-string bass was stolen from the band/mariachi office. Reward will be given for

770-0096 or find her 1st or 2nd period in the band room.

Seniors: a reminder the Taos Municipal School Board Members' Scholarship is due on Monday, May 16 to Ms. Spears.

Girl's and Boy's Soccer - There will be a meeting Tuesday, May 17th at 3:30 on the outside bleachers at the high school field for any students interested in

participating in Girl's or Boy's Soccer next year. Mr. Tonrey

Athletic Awards Ceremony will be held for Varsity Athletes ONLY who participated and are receiving letters. See Ms. Alice Romero in the Athletics Office if

you have any questions.

Native American Students: The Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Council (ENIPC) and US Department of

Agriculture/Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will host its 4th annual Safeguarding Natural Heritage: Our Land our Future Summer Enrichment

Program June 13 - 24, 2011. Students will learn about science from both Pueblo and Western perspectives, gain experience through hands-on activities,

laboratory class work, presentations, workshops, discussions and field trips. Deadline: May 20, 2011. See Ms Archuleta, Indian Ed. Liaison for

applications.

This is the last week that you will be able to check out books at the library. Those of you who have overdue books: You MUST turn them in ASAP -

otherwise you will be responsible for paying for the book.

The Taos Middle School/Taos High School Mariachi Program

proudly presents a Mariachi Spectacular Concert to be held Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at the Taos Middle School Gym starting at 6:00 p.m. featuring: Mariachi

Los Tigritos Uno y Dos from the T.M.S. Mariachi El Tigre from the T.H.S. and Mariachis from the Elemenary, Middle /High Schools from Robertson in Las Vegas, N.M.

(Mariachi Cardenal). Tickets are on sale right now from any of the Mariachi students or Mr. Norbert Martinez, Director

Junior GearUp is now collecting individual-sized items for the Men's Homeless Shelter. Specifically, these are toothbrushes and small, travel-sizes of soap, shampoo,

conditioner, toothpaste, shaving cream, deodorant and kleenex. Donations of new or used backpacks are especially appreciated. Collection boxes are located in the

main office, the library, Ms. Spears room and Mr. Thayer's room (303).

Taos Pueblo students: The Red Willow Education Center is now accepting applications for 2011 summer employment (14-21 yrs.). Work experience starts

June 6 - July 15, 2011. DEADLINE: May 27, 2011 5pm. See Ms. Archuleta for applications

FYI—PHYSICALS--Student athletes need to pick up paperwork from the Athletic Office. The paperwork must be filled out prior to the appointment. Any students

planning on participating in THS sports for the summer or next year must have a current physical. You can get your physical free of charge at the THS Wellness Center.

Please stop by and schedule an appointment.

The 2011 Poetry Chapbook has arrived and is on sale in my room for $10. Please see Mr. Hahn

All athletes interested in trying out for one of the BEST CHEERLEADING PROGRAMS in the STATE come sign up! Taos Tiger Varsity Cheerleading try-outs will be

held May 21st 2011. If you are interested in trying out please stop by Mrs. Emy DeHerrera’s class to pick up a packet. We will be holding open gym Tuesdays &

Thursdays (May 3rd, 5th, 10th, and 12th) from 3 to 4 to help you get ready for try-outs. Everyone needs to have a current physical BEFORE attending open gym. See

me with ANY questions you may have.
