11 TO HONOR AND COMMEND COMMANDER BOBBY VICK
12 STRICKLAND, SR., OF HORRY COUNTY, UPON THE
13 OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS A LAW
14 ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR THE CITY OF NORTH
15 MYRTLE BEACH, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN
16 ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

18 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly
19 are pleased to learn that Bobby Vick Strickland, Sr., will begin a
20 much deserved retirement from his service as a police officer for
21 the City of North Myrtle Beach where he has faithfully served the
22 citizens of his community during a remarkable and distinguished
23 career; and
24
25 Whereas, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, on November 4,
26 1944, he is the son of Rudolph Singletary and Catherine Vick
27 Strickland; and
28
29 Whereas, he attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North
30 Carolina, and in 1962, he joined the North Carolina National
31 Guard where he received training as a medical technician; and
32
33 Whereas, on January 1, 1966, Bobby Strickland began working in
34 law enforcement and has served in that field for over forty years;
35 and
36
37 Whereas, he graduated in the third basic law enforcement class at
38 the Criminal Justice Academy and has continued to provide
39 exceptional service to benefit the security of the citizens in his
40 community; and

1 Whereas, he was the first motor officer for the City of North
2 Myrtle Beach and also started the first canine operation for North
3 Myrtle Beach; and

5 Whereas, this fine officer is a true believer in the concept of
6 community policing, assisted the department in the addition of the
7 Explorer Program, and has been deeply involved in the life of his
8 community throughout his career; and

10 Whereas, selected by the North Myrtle Beach Lions Club as the
11 Police Officer of the Year, he has received numerous
12 commendations from the department and letters of recognition
13 from the community; and
14
15 Whereas, he has two fine sons, Bobby Vick Strickland, Jr., and
16 Jonathan Ray Strickland, who have blessed him with three
17 wonderful grandchildren; and
18
19 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly
20 are grateful for the long and outstanding career of Commander
21 Bobby Vick Strickland, Sr., and are pleased to learn that after more
22 than four decades of service to law enforcement he will be
23 beginning a much deserved retirement in May of this year. Now,
24 therefore,

26 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives
27 concurring:

29 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this
30 resolution, honor and commend Commander Bobby Vick
31 Strickland, Sr., of Horry County, upon the occasion of his
32 retirement as a law enforcement officer for the City of North
33 Myrtle Beach, and wish him continued success in all his future
34 endeavors.

36 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
37 Commander Bobby Vick Strickland, Sr.
