SUBJECT: Mathematics Olympiad Competition
The 35 annual Dallas ISD Mathematics Olympiad competition is fast approaching. The Mathematics
Department continues to encourage 100% participation from all elementary schools. The competition
will be held at Skyline High School for grades 3 – 5 students on Saturday, November 13, 2010.
The Mathematics Olympiad competition for elementary students consists of a one-hour, multiple-
choice test with twenty-five (25) problems. Practice tests are available through Curriculum Central, on
the mathematics page. Each student may use a scientific or graphing calculator to aid in solving the
problems. Schools must provide a calculator and batteries for each student. Students will
compete in individual grade level categories within Learning Communities and district-wide.
Campuses will compete in the school team competition category.
Attached you will find the TIPS sheet, and a pre-registration form for test proctors that must be
returned to the Mathematics Department, Box 77, by Friday, October 8, 2010. Each school must
provide at least two teachers to serve as test proctors on the day of Math Olympiad.
We appreciate your enthusiasm and continued support. If you have any questions, please contact
Laura Hyatt at (972) 794-7905.
