HOUSTON--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation (TWEF), in
conjunction with Comerica Bank, will host its annual Read To Lead Holiday Book Drive & Computer
Giveaway on Monday, December 5, 2011, 6:30 p.m., at The Empowerment Center, 8333 Sweetwater Lane,
Houston, TX 77037. This festive evening of empowerment and giving will be a wonderful opportunity to show the
caring hearts and enduring commitment that the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation has for the greater
Houston community and its aspiring leaders of tomorrow. We are excited to highlight our 2011 scholarships totaling
five thousand dollars ($5000), in addition to awarding 500 books and 30 computers to our deserving youth.
The Read To Lead Book Drive & Computer Giveaway is sure to bring together Houston’s key leaders and
public figures. TWEF ambassadors and partners will read stories and speak about how important reading is for
academic and lifelong success. Key community leaders will include Mr. J. Downey Bridgwater, President of
Comerica Bank's Houston Market, Irvin Ashford Jr., SVP - Director of Community Development and External
Affairs, US Naval Officer Commander Gregory Williams, Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner,
along with Houston’s own Baby Isaac & Disco Joe.
TWEF is proud to announce the 2011 Eagle Scholar Award Recipient is Ms. Yolanda Adams, American
Grammy- and Dove-award-winning Gospel music singer and radio show host.
The event is hosted by The Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation. The organization has been a strong pillar in
the community, known for its FREE monthly Empowered to Empower Seminars that imparts valuable information to
attendees such as Credit Repair, Budgeting, Family Relationships, Caring for the Elderly, and much more. TWEF
mentors young girls and boys as well as gives annual scholarships to teens furthering their education. The group is
known for sponsoring annual free back-to-school supply giveaways and parenting classes. For more information,
