What is the Goal of the Leadership Academy?
The primary purpose of the Academy is to provide an opportunity for people interested in local government to learn
about Alameda County, its mission, budget, departments, and services in an environment where they can practice
leadership skills such as active listening, public speaking, negotiating, and role playing.
Who Can Participate?
The Academy is open to anyone who lives, works, or owns a business in Alameda County who has an interest in
County government. However, only 40 individuals will be selected to participate in the Academy due to limited space
and other resources
How Do I Apply?
Just complete the application form and return it to Alameda County by Friday, October 13, 2006. Selected applicants
will be notified by Friday, October 20, 2006. Applicants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis by geographic
area within the County.

What Does it Cost?
The Academy is free to participants.
Requirements
To successfully complete the Academy and participate in graduation, each participant must attend four of the five ses-
sions and make one presentation about the County to a public group or meeting of their choice.
Graduation
A special graduation ceremony will conclude the Alameda County Leadership Academy. Graduates will be recognized
by Members of the Board of Supervisors, receive a graduation certificate, and enjoy a graduation reception. Family,
friends, and employers will be invited to attend in recognition of the graduate's contribution to the County.
