Instructions
This spreadsheet has be designed to simplify demonstrating compliance with the Water Conservation Ordinance. The spreadsheet has been protected to allow
the applicant to only provide input for selected cells. Those cells are shaded green. In many cases pull down menus are provided and will restrict the input to
acceptable values. The significance of other shaded cells are shown above.


   Step 1                Complete Applicant Information including the property zoning, zone atlas map location, building ty pe (as def ined by the UPC, and number of estimated
                         employ ees and occupants. A total proposed landscape area is also needed.
   Step 2                On the Commercial Outdoor Water Conservation Plan , pick the required number of Options, and f ollow the listed instructions f or that option which will
                         appear to the right. Adv isory and error notes also appear below the selection menu.
   Step 3                Input the proposed number of f ixtures, select the f low rate of the proposed units -go to next highest v alue if y our particular unit is not listed. The
                         water use and sav ings will automatically calculate, and the percent sav ings will be shown below.

   Step 4                Under the Water Conservation Plan Criteria , select whether y ou wish to complete detailed calculations under Optional Detail column. Doing so will
                         expose the optional detail sheets below and may allow decreased square f ootages to be used in the calculations and decrease the required cistern
                         size. The y ellow highlighted squares will be the ref lect the required v alue to be used in demonstrating compliance.
   Step 5                If any exemptions are being claimed, complete the Water Conservation Ordinance Exemption Claim Form
   Step 6                If Optional Detail has been selected, complete the detailed worksheets prior to printing and signing and dating the f orm in Step 5
   Step 7                Print out, and then Sign and Date, and submit the Water Conservation Measures Form in its entirety and any supporting detailed worksheets or other
                         supporting inf ormation.
   Step 8                Schedule a site inspection

a. SINGLE FAMILY AND SMALL MULTIFAMILY DEVELOPMENT
All remodels and additions for single-family and small multifamily development shall use EPA Watersense-labeled
fixtures for any new plumbing fixture installed. Existing plumbing fixtures not included in the remodel shall be
evaluated for replacement using incentive programs from Bernalillo County or the ABCWUA.

b. COMMERCIAL AND LARGE MULTIFAMILY DEVELOPMENT
All remodels on commercial and large multifamily development shall use EPA Watersense-labeled fixtures for any
new plumbing fixture installed. All remodels on commercial and large multifamily development which affect more than
50 percent of the existing plumbing fixtures shall use EPA Watersense-labeled plumbing fixtures for any new fixture
installed and upgrade any existing fixtures using EPA Watersense-labeled fixtures. All additions on commercial large
multifamily development which increase the floor area of the existing building by more than 50 percent of the existing
square footage shall use EPA Watersense-labeled plumbing fixtures for any new fixture installed and upgrade any
existing fixtures using EPA Watersense-labeled fixtures.


c. NEW LANDSCAPING (ALL REMODELS AND ADDITIONS
All landscaping plantings that are added or replaced as part of a remodel or addition on commercial large multifamily
development shall be from the low-water-use approved plant list. Any existing landscaping may remain.
