The Department of Anthropology invites applications for the following teaching position to be
offered in the Summer 2011 session.

Term II – June 20 – August 5, 2011

ANTHROP 2PA3 – INTRODUCTION TO PREHISTORIC ARCHAEOLOGY
An introduction to the goals and methods of archaeological research with a focus on specific problems in
human prehistory

Anticipated enrolment: 25

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in Anthropology is preferred, with appropriate teaching and/or
practical experience.

WAGES: Sessional Instructor rates are $12,650 for 6 units; $6,325 for 3 units. A Sessional lecturer
with 18 units of aggregate Seniority (Article 11-Posting & Hiring) minimum rate of pay is $6,700 for
3 units and $13,400 for 6 units.

any other supporting documents (brief course outline, course evaluation summaries, etc.)


Applicants must also include information necessary to determine their seniority as defined in
Article 11.05 of the CUPE Local 3906 (Unit 2) Collective Agreement.

ANTHROP 3CC6 ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIELD SCHOOL
Field instruction in the techniques used in the excavation of an archaeological site. The course includes
hands-on instruction in manual excavation methods, mapping, field recording and laboratory analysis.

Anticipated enrolment: 15

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in Anthropology is preferred, with appropriate teaching and/or
practical experience.

The study of the interaction between biology and culture. Topics may include: human origins, non-human
primates, the concept of race, disease, sex and gender.
