On January 7, 2011, at approximately 11:29 PM the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety responded
to the area of the Aspen and Jefferson reference two males bleeding heavily. On arrival Officers located
in the street, a 39 and 35 year old male Alamogordo residents. The investigation showed each had been
shot multiple times and had received serious injuries while at a private residence in the 1300 block of
Due to the injuries sustained, the 39 year old subject was transported by air ambulance directly from the
scene to the University Hospital in El Paso, TX. The 35 year old male subject was also later transported
by air ambulance to University Hospital, where both were listed in critical condition.
On January 14, 2011, the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety received information that the suspect
in the shooting, identified as 19 year old George “Bronson” Hernandez, was traveling back to the
Alamogordo Area possibly inside a maroon in color Mercedes SUV. The Alamogordo Department of
Public Safety along with the assistance of the Otero County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a
maroon in color Mercedes SUV while traveling south on Hwy 54/70 North at the 545 Junction.
During the traffic stop Mr. Hernandez was located in the back seat of the vehicle and subsequently
arrested on an outstanding Arrest Warrant for 2 counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon-
Great Bodily Harm. Mr. Hernandez was subsequently incarcerated at the Otero County Detention Center
in lieu of a No Bond Hold.
