Purpose of this Presentation
• Describe Uniform Subjective Scale scoring
• Outline the ―contract‖ between the score
room and the challenge rooms
– How we will work together

Uniform Subjective Scale (USS)
• All subjective scores are scored on a 1-30
range
• Objective scores are unaffected

Score Room Liaison
Not a number cruncher!
• Ensures that
– all forms are present
– all (and only) the correct scores are filled in
• All score calculations are done in the score
room

Start of the Day
• Fill in the Appraiser Assignment form and
send to the score room as soon as possible
– In any case, before the start of the competition
schedule
• Review the Printed Appraiser Assignment
sheet that we return
– Make sure that we got it right (yes, we make
mistakes!)
– Give to your Score Room Liaison.
This is his/her primary guidance!

Paper Flow
• Send all scores to the score room, as
expeditiously as possible
– Aiming for a runner per room
• Scores computed, TM and HA score sheets
are printed
• All paperwork returned to the challenge
room for conversation with the TM
– Return to score room for filing when done

Returning a Packet for Corrections
• Most packets will have a GREEN hot-dot
on them.
– They’re good-to-go—present to TM.
• Some will have a RED hot-dot!
– We have detected an error in the scores
– There will be a printed sheet inside, describing
the problem
– Please correct and return ASAP
• Your TM will be waiting for the results!

Causes for Returns (examples)
• Missing paper
• Missing scores
• Extra scores!
• Zero subjective scores with no explanation
• Deductions with no explanation

To Inform Us of a Change
• You will have a sheet of RED hot-dots
• If you want to correct a score after
presenting to the TM
– Put a note in the packet describing the change
you desire, and sign it
– Cover the GREEN dot with a RED one
– Return the whole packet to the score room
– We’ll make the change, and return the whole
packet again to the challenge room
• Complete with new TM and HA score sheets
