PRE-CONFERENCE INSTITUTES:                     Thursday, March 15, 2012

Pre-Conference Institutes are two hours of in-depth, interactive sessions designed to explore literacy topics or
related issues. Participants will gain deeper knowledge and/or skills. Separate registration is required.


CONFERENCE SESSIONS:                  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 15-17, 2012

Sessions are one-hour presentations designed to provide an overview of given topics and may include opportunities
for active involvement. Previous conference sessions have included research reports, workshops, demonstrations,
simulations, panel discussions and book talks. Exemplary proposals demonstrate clarity in participation outcomes,
content, and process of presentation. All rooms will be arranged theatre style. Overhead projectors/screens are
available upon request. LCD projectors will not be provided. Participants are responsible for any additional
equipment, and obtaining permission for use of all copyrighted materials.

PROGRAM SPECIFICATIONS
Submit:
    1.    Pages 1 and 2 of this proposal
    2.    Program Entry, a one page typed description of the entry. Include the following:
                Title of Presentation: Topic is relevant and is related to conference critical issues.
                Abstract: A 25-30 word descriptive statement for the conference program that gives a clear
                 picture of the content of the proposed session.
                Session Agenda and Participant Outcomes: Provide the session agenda in the following format:
                     o    Participant Outcomes: What will participants know and be able to do as a result of
                          participation in the session?
                     o    Content: What content will be presented/learned?
                     o    Process: How will the participants be engaged with the learning?
                List of presenters: Include the name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, position,
                 and institution affiliation for each presenter.
