Distinguished Lecturer Nomination Form
The Distinguished Lecturer Program, available to sections throughout the world, is one of the most popular SPE-administered
programs. Its purpose is to provide sections with outstanding speakers who are experts in their field and to recognize the
professional contributions of those selected as Distinguished Lecturers.
The Distinguished Lecturer Committee (DLC) selects topics and individual lecturers each fall. Each lecturer chosen by the
DLC is an authority in his or her field and a competent public speaker. We would appreciate your suggestions of individuals for
consideration by the committee.
IMPORTANT– In order to submit a nominee to the DLC, the following items are required. Failure to submit all
items required will eliminate the nominee from consideration. The DLC will not accept self nominations.
Nomination form - submitted by the nominator not the nominee.
Compose and send the nominee’s biography (1/4 page) and abstract (1/2 page) using a 12 point font. The
abstract must also answer the question “What is the one idea you would like the members to take away from this
lecture?”
7 core slides of presentation
Confirmation that the nominee and their company management has approved the submission of the nomination
and commits to participation in the DL program
Two letters of recommendation with specific nominee information such as professional activities,
timeliness of topic, and presentation skills. The letters should be from individuals that know the nominee
personally. Include phone number and e-mail address of the individual sending the letter. Only one of the three
submissions (nomination form and two recommendation letters) can be from the nominee’s company.
To enhance the nominee packet, it is highly recommended that the nominator also submit: (items are optional)
Nominee’s proposed lecture PowerPoint presentation. Nominee should be able to present the submitted topic in a
30 minute timeframe. If submitted, submission of the seven core slides is not required
