New Items of Interest
A group of auto racing enthusiasts has secured the land, financing and politics to
develop an autotriathlon venue in San Diego. It will combine drag racing, autocross
and show competition. San Diego will be the roll model for what is expected to
become a national event.
The Franklin Mint (Fashion Valley Mall) would like to furnish a promotional speaker
at any event in exchange for a valuable raffle prize. Judie Erickson, Mgr. (619) 692-

Randy Grams (1-877-463-3837) made a pitch for his newest capital adventure –
Deters Portable Toilet Rentals (all have wash stations), available at greatly reduced
rates for auto related events. He is an old car nut.
San Diego swap meet moves to Mesa College for July, August and September 2002,
and then back to Qualcomm.
The Streak gave $ 2,000 each to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, San Diego Hospice,
and the McClellan House.

Legislation of interest
It’s all very confusing, but it looks like the stupid “SUV Bill” (AB1058) will pass. It
imposes all sorts of penalties for owning/driving an SUV, including a surcharge tax of
2 cents a mile and $ 50.00 / year registration.
