NRA BASIC RANGE SAFETY OFFICER COURSE: This nine (9) hour multi-media course of instruction is designed for
range owners, operators, managers, civilians, police/security personnel, and Boy Scout leaders desiring to oversee and conduct
safe range operations without necessarily holding the certification as an NRA Certified Instructor or Coach. Successful
completion of the course will result in NRA Range Safety Officer Certification. The minimum age for certification is 21 years.

INFORMATION:
Course content includes: ensuring the range is safe to use; conducting range safety briefings for shooters; handling
ammunition and firearm malfunctions safely; supervising safety aspects of shooting activities; and handling emergency
procedures as established by the range management. The course is nine hours in length. The topics covered are: The role of
the Range Safety Officer, Development of Range Standard Operating Procedures, Range Inspection and Range Rules, Range
Safety Briefing, Emergency Procedures, Firearms Stoppages and Malfunctions.

The course(s) & firing range instruction is conducted by NRA Certified and Maryland State DNR Police Certified Hunter
Education Instructors & Range Officers, Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Instructors and NRA Certified Rifle,
Pistol, Shotgun and Muzzleloader Instructors. BSA Merit Badge Certification provided by BSA registered Counselors.
Certification is provided by NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officers.
Student fee: $ 70.00 COURSE FEES & REGISTRATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MONDAY JANUARY 5, 2007.

All course materials, meals, firearms and ammunition will be provided to each student and are included in the registration fee.
Range safety rules, safe range practices, proper firearms and ammo handling and storage will be strictly enforced.
