Starting Windows Movie Maker
To find Windows MovieMaker2
Click on Start
Click on All Programs
Click on Accessories
Click on Windows Movie Maker
Importing Images:
Click on the Tasks icon on the top toolbar.
The Movie Tasks Task Pane will appear on
the left.
Click on Import Pictures.
Locate your folder of images.
Select all the images you want in your
movie.
Click on the Import button.
Tip:
To select a column of images,
Click on the 1st image
Hold the Shift key
Click on the last image
That will select all images.
To select individual images:
Hold the Ctrl key as you click on each
image you want.

Editing Images in Movie Maker
Putting Images in the Movie:
You can add an image to your movie while you are in either the Storyboard
View or Timeline View.
Click and drag the clip you want from the Collection to the Storyboard or Timeline.
When the blue line is where you want your clip to go, let go of the mouse click.
The clip is now in your movie.
To delete an image, right click on the image and choose Delete.

Playing Your Movie
(Timeline or Storyboard view)
You can use the slider on the Preview
Area to choose a play back starting point.
Use the controls to play, pause,
advance, rewind, stop, etc.
Fading images (Timeline View)
To move/rearrange images Click, hold, and slowly drag one clip
Select the image on the timeline or partially over the other. You’ll see a blue
storyboard. rectangle (the duration of the dragged clip)
Place your mouse over the center of the turn to a wedge (the duration of the

Adding Audio to Movie Maker
Recording Narration You’ll need a microphone!
(Timeline View)
Drag the Playhead to where you want to
start your narration.
Click the microphone icon.
Click the Start Narration button. Watch
the Preview Area so you can see the
movie as you speak.
When you are done speaking, click the
Stop Narration button.
Create a file name.
Click Save. Your narration will appear in
the Timeline.
Changing Volume
(Timeline View)
For individual audio tracks:
Right click on the audio clip.
Select Volume.
Drag the slider.
Click OK.
Fading Audio In and Out
(Timeline View)
Right click on the audio clip.
Select Fade In or Fade out.
Importing an Audio File
(Timeline View)
Select the Collection where you want the
audio file.
Click on the File menu.
Select Import into Collections.
Browse to locate the audio file.
Click once to select it.
Click Import.
To put this audio file into your movie, click
and drag it into the Audio/Music track.

Title, Credits, Transitions in MovieMaker2
Make Titles or Credits
(Storyboard or Timeline View)
To add a title or credit, choose Make
Titles or Credits from the Movie Tasks
menu. Select an image.
Choose an option for placing a Title or
Credit (at the beginning, before the clip,
on a clip, etc.)
Under More Options, format and/or
animate the title/credits. Click Done.
To edit a title/credit at any time, double
click it on the Timeline.
Title Overlay
(Timeline View)
You can change the length of the title or

Saving Your Project
Saving Your Project
To save your work in progress so that you
can continue to work on it in the future,
choose File and Save Project As. This
saves your work as .mswmm (Microsoft
Windows Movie Maker) file.
A project is editable.
Saving Your Final Movie
To save the finished product (non-
editable), on the Movie Tasks panel,
choose Save to My Computer. This
option will save you file as a .wmv, which
is viewable in Windows Media
Viewer/Player.
A movie is NOT editable.
