Robert Burns, or…
Rabbie!
By Sally Barker
Dalry PS
Burns was born on the 25th
January, 1759, in Alloway.
Rabbie’s interest
in poetry was
prompted by his
mother who sang
to him in ‘auld’
Scots
Burns wrote
his first poem
at the age of 15
Rabbie originally
wrote another
tune for ‘Auld
Lang Syne’ but
his publisher didn’t
like it. The
Japanese claim the
one we use today is
their tune!
Does anyone know
which famous
Edinburgh street
Burns’ lived on?
Plenty of people want
to see where this
famous man lived.
In fact, he’s so
famous, There’s
even a statue of
Burns in Central
park, New York!
Burns died on the
25th July, 1796.
This is the same
day that the last of
his children was
born. The baby’s
name was Maxwell
Burns
Can you answer all these
questions?
Now let’s think….
WHO was Burns?
WHAT did he do?
WHY is he so famous?
WHEN did he live?
