Getting Started in Argos
Getting to Argos
The URL to the Argos production system is http://argos.indstate.edu:8080/argos/. You
will be prompted to install an Active X plug-in when first accessing the URL. Your user
name will be your BANNER ID, and the initial password is „temp‟. You will be prompted
to change your password upon login. Please be sure it is the same as your Banner
As a developer, you will have access to both the test server
(http://argostest.indstate.edu:8080/argos/, where all development work should be done)
and the production server (URL above, where you put all tested and finalized work that
is ready for production).
Argos Support & Shared Datablock Downloads
Developers have an ID and password for the Argos Support site (for training
schedules/sign-up, help desk tickets, etc.) and for the Argos COOP Site (for shared
datablock downloads, etc.).
Your COOP username is the same as your Sycamore/Portal ID, and your default
password is 12345. To change your password, log on through the "COOP Site" button
in Argos (click on the "COOP Site" icon which is the next-to-last icon at the top of the
main Argos screen). Click "User Profile" after logging in.
If you find a datablock on the site that you would like to download and import into Argos,
first save it to your desktop (or someplace on your computer). Then go into Argos and
click on your area‟s folder. Then click the "Import" button at the top of the screen. This
will bring up a browsing window where you can find the file you downloaded to your
desktop earlier. Choose that file, and click "Open". You will then see the datablock is
available in Argos for you to use.
Argos Help is accessed by clicking the Argos Help icon, which is the rightmost icon at
the top of the main Argos screen. If you need additional help, you can visit the Argos
Support Site online at http://www.evisions.com/Support/Overview.aspx. From here you
can view the training schedule and sign up for training sessions, download
documentation, and login to the Help Desk. You must establish a user ID for the
Evisions help desk in order to submit support requests, submit enhancement requests
or ask questions. When creating your help desk ID, you will be prompted for the
institution ID for ISU (2DJ52Z9).
Argos training sessions are 60-90 minute live sessions conducted by Evisions via the
web and telephone. The training schedule can be viewed and training scheduled via
the Argos Support site at http://www.evisions.com/Services/WebBasedTraining.aspx.

area‟s folder, but all datablocks must be created within your area‟s folder or subfolders,
including datablocks imported from the Argos Support site. Items can then be copied
from your folder to the shared folder if desired.
