2011 MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Rules and Regulations
1. The middle school league will have eight (8) teams. This league consists of Appling,
Ballard-Hudson, Bloomfield, Fort Valley, Howard, Miller, Rutland, and Weaver. Each school
will play a total of five (5) games.
2. All five games will count and the team with the best won/lost record will be the champion. If
two teams are tied for first place, the first consideration will be head to head competition. If
the two teams did not play during the regular season, a one game play-off will be held on
Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 5:15 p.m. with the location determined by a flip of a coin.
3. Official football rules will be followed with the exceptions below.
a.) There is no overtime during regular season play. A regular season game that ends
in a tie will be recorded as ½ win and ½ loss;
b.) After a touchdown, a successful try (pass conversion) will score one (1) point and a
successful try (kick) will score two (2) points.
4. Game time is 5:15 p.m. The game will consist of four 8-minute quarters. There will be a
two-hour limit on each game. All games held during the week must end at 7:15 p.m. If you
have an electric scoreboard, you must furnish a competent adult to work the scoreboard.
There will not be an Electric Clock Operator for the scoreboards. This is a very important
responsibility and is a home team responsibility. The officials will keep time if no clock is
available.
5. Admission charge for middle school football games: $3.00 for adults and high school
students, $2.00 for middle school students and younger, and free for children 6 and under.
Please tell your parents about this charge.
6. Players whose uniforms are soaked or saturated with blood must change the uniform in
order to re-enter the game. Players who are bleeding or have an open wound must be
taken from the game as an injured player until the medical problem is corrected.
7. Officials for Bibb County games will be assigned by this office and paid for by the Board.
There should be four officials for each game. Please let me know immediately if there are
any problems. If four officials do not show, please call the Athletic Office to report this.
8. The host school must furnish a security escort for the officials if they have opportunity to
confront crowds during their exit. This escort may be an assistant coach or school official.
9. The home school will call the Bibb County Athletic Office (478/765-8550) or email this office
(tmcgee@bibb.k12.ga.us) and report the score of each game on the morning following the
game.
10. Please send a copy of the Middle School Certificate of Eligibility to this office. This should
be in the Bibb County Athletic Office by the date of the first game. Students must meet
eligibility requirements to be included on the roster. Any violation of an eligibility rule will
result in the forfeiture of any game in which the ineligible athlete plays.

and stay until 7:30 p.m.
12. Any player or coach ejected from a football game must be withheld from the next scheduled
