KENTUCKY DERBY/MATH FOOTBALL DIRECTIONS
Format: Small Groups (3 – 4)
Directions
Each student group picks a team name and draws a picture of their horse/football (or you can have
previously drawn pictures).
Each group gets a dry erase board to work the problems on.
The teacher reads a question and the groups get time to work the problem. After a specified time, the
teacher will ask for one answer from each group. The group that gets it right will get to move their
horse/football one space down the track/football field. If they get it wrong, they do not get to move.
The horse/football that makes it to the finish line first wins.
