difficult for some models.

 Generally more expensive than comparable

desktops.

 All components included and enclosed.

What to look for in a

computer

RAM – (Random Access Memory)

 This is how the computer accesses programs;

more RAM means more done at the same time.

 Generally the more the better; minimum 128KB

 Depending on use of computer amount of RAM

should increase,

 Games, photo editing, audio uses = more RAM

 Paper typing, email checking = slightly less

GB > MB > KB > B

 Hard Drive is where programs and

information is stored. Average user should

have at least 40GB, more depending on

use.

 The processor is the brain of the computer,

measured in gigahertz, speeds around

& DVD+/-RW available

 For burning DVD’s DVD+/-RW best option

Other storage options

sufficient although upgrades are

available and widely used.

at least 2 USB ports and one open

expansion bay.
