Module I – First Configuration
Objective
After completing this module you will be
capable of :
• Identify the necessary step to generate a new
Configuration
• Comprehend the general options configuration
• Understand the relationship between Configuring
and controlling the Scanner
• Manage the Configuration to define the
associated Document Data
Creating a new Configuration
Step 1 – Opening the Configurations editor

left tree the

Step 2 – Configurations general Aspects
• After Step 1, you will see a new
window which is the Configurations
Editor.
• You must now Complete the following
mandatory settings
– Name (Identifier of the new
configuration).
Ex : AIGCourse1
– Index Data Base. (Path and name
of the File where the Documents
Data or associated information is
to be stored)
Ex : AIGC1
• Optionally you should fill
– Description. (free description to
reference the configuration).
Ex : Course 1-Module 1

Step 3 – Path and name for the Documents
destination
• Mask
– The description of each
letter is in the references
box.
– Each letter represents a
digit of the path and the
final name
To exercise we have defined the following mask:
– If the defined Path SSSSSSSSS\BBBBBBBBB\YYYYMMDD\JJJJ
doesn’t have a Disc Which is :
defined (Ex: C:\ or
• S Configuration Name
\\domain ) the folder will
be located in the folder • B Folder- Batch Name

Step 4 – Scanner Type Configuration
• Scanner type and model
– Select the proper one
– If your Scanner is not in
the list (or supported)
you can try using the
standard for general
scanners TWAIN
• Mode
As an Example select the
– Simulated. Allows
simulating the scanning Type CR180
process, without having
a real scanner attached.
And press the button
– Real. Use this mode to
“Configuration” to bring the

that specific Scanner

Step 5 – Scanner Configuration
Each Scanner Type has it’s own
Configuration screen
Pressing the “Help” button you
will access a detailed
description of each option
For this example simply modify
the “print” option in order to
turn this option off
Finally press the button “OK!”
so the changes are recorded

Step 6 – Index Definition ( Concept )
• Select the “Indexes” tab to access the editor
• What are Indexes?
– They are attributes which are obtained and/or
added and are associated to each documents
• Which are the typical attributes?
– Name = Is the ID. Is the equivalent of the
Column name in an Excel Screen
– Source = Links the source of this particular
index content
– Type = Describes the type of data , which
could be text, number, date, etc.
– Size = Length of the text = puts a maximum
length to the index
– Format = Allows the setting of the display
format
– Value = Default Value for the Index

Step 7 – Importing Index definitions
• Press the button “Import”
to access the window
• On the new window select
the configuration from
where you want to import
the Index definition.
Ex : AIGSDS1000-100 DPI
• Observe that a new
window will show the
existing indexes for the
selected configuration
• Press the button “OK!”, to
import the definition
Beware that if you select a “Zones group” only the names of the indexes will be imported, and the
rest of the attributes will have to be filled manually.
The importing mechanism allows the use of previous and existing configurations from other
installations.

Step 8 – Deleting Indexes Definitions
a) Select the Index “_Invalidation
Text” and press “Delete”
b) The index will be deleted. “_Invalidation
Text” is no longer in the list.
Repeat this to eliminate the indexes:
“Amount” and “Scan Operator”

Step 9 – Editing Index definitions
• Summary
– To insert
manually an Look and see if your Index list is now like this
index, you must one :
complete the
attributes and
press the “New”
button
– To modify the
index, you must
select it from
the list, edit it’s
attributes and
then press the
“Record” button

Paso 10 – Saving the New Configuration
a) Press the “OK!” button
b) Observe that the new configuration is now
shown at the Components tree
You have successfully created a
new configuration!.
Summary
• The AIGscan “Configuration” Component
– Needs a name to identify it
– It is associated to a Data Base to save the
corresponding indexes data
– The scanned documents will be saved in a variable
directory structure according to the definition made at
the Configuration level
– The Index definition determines the data structure as
well as the mechanism for it’s population
– The Configuration determines which Scanner type will
be used and with which parameters
