November 14-21 Poetry Explications. You are required to complete
both an oral and written explication of a poem
selected from our text or another written by a poet who is
included in our text. The written explication will constitute
Paper #2.
The Novel
November 28 Reading Test. A Farewell to Arms
November 30-December 7 Background and Discussion of Novel
December 14 Final Exam. This test will cover poetry and the novel. It
will include a take-home essay on the novel.
You should expect quizzes over the assigned short stories.
Stories marked with an asterisk are not available in the text. Both can be readily located
through a Google or MSN search of the title in quotation marks. If you are unable to find
a story, please see me and I will assist. I will provide copies of the poems marked with
the asterisk.
