1 Introduction
FLASH is produced by Ealing Community and Voluntary Service – to get information on funding and other items of
interest out quickly to local groups. We welcome your comments, ideas and suggestions to improve our funding advice

2 Ealing Council Tendering Opportunities
Residents Survey
The London Borough of Ealing is seeking expressions of interest from suitable qualified contractors to work on the
Residents Survey on behalf of the council.
The main purpose of the residents survey is to get information from residents about their views of the services Ealing
Council and its partners provide, and to capture their perception and experiences of living in the borough. This will help
the council to identify priorities and areas for service improvement.
The residents survey is to be carried out via a representative sample of 3,000 Ealing residents using face-to-face
interviews, from the start of September 2010.
The closing date for PQQ returns is 4pm on Wednesday 7 April 2010.
Provision of Connexions
Tender for the provision of Connexions Services – Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance.
Ealing Council is seeking suitably skilled and experienced organisations to provide careers education information, advice
and guidance for within the borough.
The duration of the resultant contract will be for two years with an option to extend for up to a further three years.

3 Torch Trophy Trust
The Torch Trophy Trust is providing bursaries to sports volunteers, including those involved in youth sport or sport for the
disabled. The aim of the funding is to enable volunteers and groups to develop their skills as coaches or officials to assist
their club, organisation or community to develop their chosen sport.
Bursaries are intended to helps volunteers and groups:
Develop talent.
Improve their knowledge.
Enhance their skills.
Encourage sports at a grassroots level.

4 Warm Front (Information for organisations working with people in Fuel Poverty)
Warm Front is the government's main tool to combat fuel poverty, assisting over 2 million households since June 2000 by
installing energy efficiency measures such as loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, and replacement boilers. Warm Front
is a grant of £3500 and people who own or privately rent their home, and receive certain benefits, can access this funding
for essential energy efficiency improvements.
Martin Carrick is the point of contact for Warm Front-matters, and would be happy to provide support should organisations
come across any specific Warm Front cases. He can also provide literature (such as leaflets) should any groups wish to
promote the scheme, or to keep as reference material for referring potentially eligible people to the scheme.
There have been some quite large changes in the Warm Front grant which he would be happy to notify groups of.

5 LankellyChase Foundation Summer Playschemes Closing Date 14th May (Only for children living in refuges for
families escaping domestic violence or for young carers)
Each grant will amount to £500 and will be available to qualifying organizations.In total approximately 120 grants are
made each year. They aim to achieve an equal geographical spread.

6 The Kids Fund (Field Studies Council)
The Kids Fund aims to bring environmental understanding to disadvantaged young people by attending a course at an
FSC centre and to help disadvantaged young people to attend a course who may otherwise be excluded due to some
form of disadvantage - health, mobility, deprivation or financial.
Up to 80% of funding for disadvantaged young people is available as a grant up to a maximum of £3000. There are 17
centres, some are residential and some are day centres only. You may apply at any time. Decisions will be made in
February, June and October

7 Erach and Roahan Sadri Foundation) Next deadline 1st June
The Erach and Roahan Sadri Foundation makes grants for a range of charitable purposes, including Education; Welfare;
Homelessness; and assisting members of the Zoroastrian faith. The work of organizations should take place in India or
the UK, Grants between £2,000 and £16,000 were made at the last Grants panel.

8 DFID Civil Society Challenge Fund Opens from 1st April Closes for submission of Concept Notes 31 May.

The CSCF supports activities that:
improve the capacity of Southern civil society to engage in the local decision-making processes
improve the capacity of Southern civil society to engage in national decision making processes
improve national linkages through global advocacy
provide innovative service delivery
provide service delivery in difficult environments
The CSCF can provide up to £500,000 for a maximum of 5 years. Projects where the UK organisation has secured a
degree of funding from other sources or is making a contribution of its own are welcomed, however. Up to 100% will be
considered where no other funding is available.
The fund is suitable for UK-based, non-profit organisations. Provided the intended beneficiaries are poor women and
men, applications may be accepted for activities in any developing country in Africa and South Asia and in a number of
countries in the rest of Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean, the former Soviet Union and South-Eastern Europe
(if not EU accession countries).

9 Community Radio Fund Opens 14 April and closes 11 May
The first round for funding applications in 2010/11 will open on 14 April and close on 11 May 2010. The Community Radio
Fund Panel will meet to consider applications on 28 June 2010.
Grants can only be made to community radio licensees who are broadcasting under a community radio licence (and not
an RSL, for example).

10 MSE Charity Deadline 31 March for grants over £950. (No deadline for Grants under £950)
The MSE Charity supports projects such as self-help groups and other innovative projects that will help educate people
about money/debt/consumer issues. So whether you're a charity, or an individual with a good idea, let them know and
they'll see what can be done to help.
Grants of up to £5000 are available. Groups applying for less than £950 should submit the Group Application Form at any
time and email charity@moneysavingexpert.com to say they would like their application to be FAST TRACKED. These
will be dealt with as soon as possible.
Projects must assist people to improve their quality of life through knowledge and understanding of how to manage and
take control of their own financial situation. Groups will need to demonstrate that they have researched and assessed the
need for the project.
Groups must demonstrate that the project will make a significant difference to the beneficiaries so the OUTCOMES must
be achievable, measurable, deliverable within budget and within a time frame and be sustainable. It will be necessary for
groups to demonstrate that they have the skills, ability and experience to deliver the project.
The MSE Charity will consider full project cost recovery, but costs must only relate to the project itself and not the
organisations core funding. Projects must provide value for money.
For existing projects with a proven success record, consideration will only be given to those that can demonstrate that
funding will be used to extend the project beyond its existing boundaries in terms of the scope of project, number of
beneficiaries and/or time frame.

a) London Irish Women’s Centre
If you work with Irish women and travellers of Irish descent then this centre offers advice, counselling, advocacy and
information. They offer telephone advice, social groups and one to one sessions at their centre 59 Stoke Newington
Church Street London N16 OAR.
Centre Opening hours : 9am to 5pm - Monday to Friday .
Drop in: Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 12.30 pm, all other times by appointment.
b) Ealing Lets (Local Exchange Trading System)
Ealing Local Exchange Trading System has relaunched after being dormant for some time and has a new web based
system. It is open to local residents and voluntary and community groups.
If your group or members of your group can offer a service to others then register at Ealing LETS. This is a way for local
residents and groups to exchange services using EALS (no money).
