SELECTION POLICY
For any selection to be confirmed, all swimmers must return a Selection Acceptance
form as outlined in section 2.2
The team for the World University Games will be selected from Individual
performances recorded at the British Gas LC Championships Manchester 5th-12th
March 2011 (the ‘Pool Trials’) and from the LEN CUP, Eilat, Israel, 7 May 2011
(Open Water Trials)
Swimmers who achieve the selection criteria for the World Long Course
Championships 2011, Shanghai and the FINA World Open Water Championships
2011, Shanghai will not be eligible for selection for the World University Games 2011.
1. Athlete Selection
1.1 There is 1 male and 1 female place available for selection in the 10km
event
1.2 The fastest ‘eligible’ male swimmer and the fastest ‘eligible’ female
swimmer in the 10km ‘Open Water Trials’, that HAS NOT qualified for
the FINA World Championships 2011 (Long Course or Open Water) will
be selected to compete in the 10k event at the World University Games
2011.
1.3 If places are not filled via selection in 1.2 above, the next fastest ‘eligible’
swimmer in the 800m Freestyle (female) and the 1500m Freestyle (male)
events at the ‘Pool Trials’, that HAS NOT qualified for the FINA World
Championships 2011 (Long Course or Open Water) will be selected,
provided that they have competed in an international open water
competition since January 2010.
1.4 When selecting athletes from the ‘Pool Trials’, times achieved at the ‘Pool
Trials’ in the Finals will take precedence over Heat performances
2. GENERAL
2.1 The reference to ‘eligible’ in the sections above denotes swimmers
who are available and eligible to represent Great Britain at the World
University Games.

2.2 Selection and Acceptance Forms: If swimmers wish to be
considered for selection then they will be expected to complete and
return the nomination pack to BUCS by (Date TBC) to confirm their
availability to participate in their event(s) at the World University
Games 2011. Failure to do so will be interpreted as non-availability by
the head coach and their place offered to the next highest ranked
swimmer as outlined in section 1. Nomination packs will be available
from the BUCS website.
