Next Block icon (or use ). This populates the form.

4. Save your work! It is not done automatically! Click on the Save icon (or use F10) to

dialog box will pop up prompting you:

5. Use Rollback to clear all except key block information and to return to the first

enterable field on the form.

6. Check the Auto Hint Line (bottom left) for clues if you ever get “hung up” on

a form that won’t respond to your commands. It provides error messages or

instructions on how to proceed. An example:

D. Searching for a Person

Note: The search feature can be used on any form that has an ID/name field in the Key

Block. Several search options exist; two are provided below for simplicity.

(Note: These methods are not case sensitive; you do not need to capitalize the first letter

of a name.)

1. SPAIDEN Search. Name Field Search: In the SPAIDEN key block, tab one

position to the right of the ID field and enter the name (or a portion of the name

with the wildcard %). For example, type in “Br%” and hit Enter. This will return

the names of individuals whose current last name or previous last name begins

with “Br.” Click on the drop down arrow to see a listing of names. Click once on

an individual’s name to select.

ID Field Search: In the SPAIDEN key block ID field, enter the 9 digit Student ID

number and hit Enter. This will return data related to that individual.

2. GUIALTI Query.

Name Field Search: In the SPAIDEN key block, click on the Search Arrow icon

next to the ID field. Click on Alternate ID Search, which takes you to the

GUIALTI form. Tab to the Last Name column and enter the name (or a portion

of the name with the wildcard %). For example, type in “B%” and click on the

Execute Query icon (or hit F8). This will return the names of individuals whose

last name begins with “B.” Click twice on an individual’s ID number to select.

4

5

ID Field Search: In the SPAIDEN key block, click on the Search Arrow icon

next to the ID field. Click on Alternate ID Search, which takes you to the

GUIALTI form. In the SSN/SIN/TIN field, enter the social security number and

click Execute Query (or hit F8). This will return data related to that individual.

Click twice on an individual’s ID number to select.

Important! Don’t forget the % Wildcard!

Looking for student data and don’t have the complete ID number or spelling of a name?

Use the percent sign (%). It stands for any number of unknown characters.

E. Exiting Banner

1. There are several ways to Exit Banner. Either (a) Click the Exit icon, (b) Use the

key function, (c) Click on the Close at the upper right, or (d) Click

the File menu at the upper left and select Exit.

2. An Exit dialog box will appear. Click “Yes” to exit.
