Press release
Uniroyal winter tyres for all classes of car
Rain tyres for the winter
Hanover/Essen, June 2010. The Uniroyal MS plus 6
offers ample safety in wet winter weather. State-of-the-
art tyre technology ensures abundant traction in snow,
combined with aquaplaning safety and short braking
distances. For large, fast vehicles the MS plus 66 offers
the perfect blend of driving performance in wet wintry
conditions and lots of fun at the wheel.
The Uniroyal MS plus 6 - safe whatever the weather
Designed for small and compact cars, this winter tyre from
Uniroyal ensures outstanding performance in the wet, plus
safety whatever the weather. The MS plus 6 comes in 26
sizes for 13", 14" and 15" rims and aspect ratios from 80 to
55 per cent. The range extends from 135/80 R 13 to 185/55
R 14 tyres and the majority of these are T-rated, making
them suitable for speeds of up to 190 km/h (118 mph). Three
sizes are approved for up to 160 km/h (100 mph) and carry
the Speed Index Q.
High damping wet grip polymers on the MS plus 6 ensure
that the tyre adapts quickly to wet road surfaces, resulting in
1
short braking distances. The directionally-orientated tread
pattern is highly effective on wet roads, with its three
circumferential grooves and numerous lateral channels
ensuring swift and efficient collection and dispersion of
water, thereby providing aquaplaning safety. However, in
terms of handling and braking on dry roads, the tyre also
delivers a convincing performance. 'Particularly good on dry
roads too' was how the German motoring organisation ADAC
assessed the MS plus 6 in its recent winter tyre test (October
2009), awarding it the overall rating 'recommended'. The MS
plus 6 also gained the 'top mark in the noise assessment'
carried out in the same test.
The sophisticated sipe system used on the MS plus 6
creates a multiplicity of gripping edges that ensure good
traction and lateral guidance. This gives motorists a
reassuring safety cushion on snow- or ice-covered roads.
The Uniroyal MS plus 66 - high aquaplaning safety
For powerful medium range and luxury cars the MS plus 66
provides a perfect combination of driving fun and safety. This
tyre is available in 46 sizes with aspect ratios from 65% to
40% and can be fitted on 15" to 18" rims. The range starts
with the 175/65 R 15, Speed Index T, for speeds up to 190
km/h (118 mph), and ends with the 225/40 R 18 V, which is
approved for speeds of up to 240 km/h (150 mph).
2
The tread pattern on this tyre is similar to that on the MS plus
6. The design of the grooves on the MS plus 66 enables
greater quantities of water to be picked up by the tread,
thereby reducing the pressure build-up in front of the tyre -
the result is high aquaplaning safety. An ultramodern silica
compound and numerous wave-shaped sipes mean good
grip and short braking distances, excellent traction and
reliable cornering stability, even on slippery road surfaces.
Like its smaller counterpart, the ADAC judged the MS plus
66 as 'particularly good on dry roads', giving it the rating
'recommended' in its winter tyre test.
In addition to the tyre's positive handling in winter, safety on
wet roads and efficient performance on dry roads, the MS
plus 66 also boasts low rolling noise and high mileage.
The Belgian rubber goods manufacturer Englebert produced
tyres from 1895 and the company's customers included
Continental AG. When the firm merged with US Rubber in
1958, it was then known as Uniroyal Englebert. Uniroyal, the
inventor of the rain tyre, has been a European brand within
the portfolio of Continental AG in Hanover, Germany since
1979.

With sales of approximately €20 billion in 2009 Continental is
among the leading automotive suppliers worldwide. As a
supplier of brake systems, systems and components for
powertrains and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment
solutions, vehicle electronics, tires and technical elastomers,
Continental contributes enhanced driving safety and global
climate protection. Continental is also a competent partner in
networked automobile communication. Continental currently
employs approximately 138,000 in 46 countries.
Continental is the European market leader for passenger
and light truck tires. More than 30 per cent of all new
European cars leave the factory fitted with Continental tires.
The tire divisions are an official sponsor of the 2010 FIFA
World Cup South Africa™. For further details, please go to
