Welcome to Hoggard Viking football—home of the 2007 North Carolina State
Champions! You will have a special pride in being a Viking. You will work harder than
you have ever worked, and you will have fun. We will apply the lessons learned through
football into our daily lives. We will learn the value of hard work, self-discipline,
sacrifice, accountability for our actions, how to persevere and work through adversity
without giving up, and we will learn the benefits and rewards of joining with teammates
in working toward a common goal.
Our Mission: Help you reach your full potential as a football player, as a student, and
as a young man. We want to be proud of you, and you proud of yourself, when you
graduate from our program.
The Challenge to You: Build on the tradition of excellence that Viking football
represents. We have won nine varsity and eight JV conference championships in the
past twelve years, and we won the state championship in 2007. What will we do in
2009? Playing time and starting positions will be wide open for competition. Don’t
just hope for success—earn your success. Deserve victory! When you graduate as a
senior, will you leave Hoggard Viking football better off than you found it? Make it
happen—Train to be a champion!
What do you need to do?
1. Outwork your opponents! This is the key to our success—No Excuses! Be an
IRONMAN by attending 35 workouts this summer. Be the best you can possible
be at everything you do.
2. Be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there, doing what
you are supposed to be doing. No discipline problems—just hard workers.
3. Have the right attitude. We believe in teamwork—Teamwork Wins! Attitude
is a small decision we make every day that makes a BIG difference in our lives.
Buy into “Big Team, little me.” The tradition and future of Hoggard Viking
football will not be left to the weak, to the selfish, or to the half hearted. Only
young men with strong determination will be Vikings.
