Turning the page on Canada’s Indian Residential Schools.
The Assembly of First Nations calls on all Canadians to join in our collective healing journey
from the sad legacy of Indian Residential Schools. Canadians need to ensure that our
children and future generations do not continue to carry the burden of our Indian Residential
School experience.
We welcome you to explore our new AFN-IRS interactive website. Our social networking will
connect former IRS students and provides opportunities to understand the intergenerational
impacts from IRS. We encourage former IRS students to find classmates and re-connect with
one another, share stories, photos and support one another. We encourage children and
grand-children of former IRS students to support your parents, grandma’s, and grandpa’s to
re-connect with former IRS classmates through the Facebook page available on each IRS
school. Understanding our families past will strengthen our families and communities’ future.
Communicate with students you haven’t seen in years, meet their families and communities
now. Finally, we encourage former staff and the public to engage through Facebook with
encouraging messages for our collective healing efforts.
