Network technologies

• Client, host, server

Client: clients are computers that are used to get work done. For E.g. you are a client

if you are viewing or downloading files from an internal server. Or when using browser

to access certain web pages.

Servers: it is a powerful computer that is specifically used for providing services, to

the other clients computers on the network.

The server provides lots services to serve the needs of clients on the network such as;

 Providing a central, common file storage area

 Sharing hardware such as printers

 Controlling who can or can’t have access the network

 Sharing Internet connections

Host; A host is a computer that provides services and applications to users on the

network just like server. One of the difference between host and a server is that server

can provide a common file storage while a host doesn’t.
