About SCview.xls, version 4.2, 22-November-2006
SCview.xls is an Excel Spreadsheet for viewing and printing results from the
SC11 version 2.3 or later and the SC15 (any version).
Because of a file format change, you need version 1.7 or later for SC11 version 4.2.
This version of the spreadsheet is required to view the Chart and Spectrum Datalog files.
It is provided by Spicer Consulting free of charge, but without any support commitment.
Feel free to copy and modify it. It was developed under Excel 97 and requires Visual Basic Macros enabled.
Using this Spreadsheet
To view exported data, click the Chart tab and press the Open button which is to the right
of the chart. Select a text file that has been exported by the SC11 or SC15 and click
Open. The file will be displayed on the chart. The Preview button gives you a Print Preview and the
Print button prints the chart immediately, with no intervening dialog boxes.
The "Chart Axes" button gives access to a simple window to change the axis and title options. There are 3 buttons:
"Apply" makes any changes to the chart and keeps the window open, "OK" makes any changes and closes the window.
"Cancel" and the "close window" icon in the corner will close the window without making any changes since the last time "Apply" w
The tables below control the standard settings of the Y axis for the various different units.
You can edit the table to change the settings.
If you wish to add a user defined unit to the SC11 list below, use the "Add User Defined Y unit" button.
This will ensure that the unit is placed in the list in a position where the search for units is not disrupted.
The new export file format contains range information for the data. This is used to set up the initial chart.
If this range information is not present then the chart range is set using the tables below
How it works
Open calls the macro LoadFile which opens the text file and
puts it under the Data tab. It then fills in the X axis values and works out all the information for the
chart before updating it. Open relies on the chart being partly set up beforehand. Therefore you can
change some aspects of the chart manually and Open will keep them the same. However, it might
stop working if you remove something it expects to be there.
The "Add User Defined Y unit" button brings up a form to fill in the details of the new unit. It also checks
that the details are valid and places the new unit in the list in a position where the "open" routine's search
for an appropriate unit will not be disrupted. Note: the unit may not be placed in an obvious location in the list.
