Adam Burt, 3D Technical Tutor & Apple Distinguished Educator, Ravensbourne

Since graduating form Ravensbourne College with BA Hons degree in product design in 1998, I
have worked in a number of HE Institutions ranging from Central Saint Martin's to Kent Institute
of Art & Design, and at present Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication.
I have also given sessional tutoring at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), and
Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Outside of education, I have worked freelance within Product and Interior design practices such
as Design Bridge and Deacon Edge. Alongside my working life, I contribute energetically to my
role in the Apple Distinguished Educator Program in which I get involved in digital media
technologies including m-learning research.

Martin has worked at Tower Hamlets College since 1995 as an Access lecturer and course tutor
on the Access to Primary Teaching pathway. Prior to that, he was a VT lecturer for a couple of
years in Woolwich, Lewisham and Wandsworth. He was a Teaching and Learning Leader for the
Access department for two years before becoming an ILT leader. Martin remains in Access
where he continues to tutor and teach, but his official title is now ILT project coordinator. He also
ran the OCR dip in the Professional Development Centre at the Arbour Square site of the college.

With a background in television broadcast (Channel 4, BBC, Independents) Marie is used to
adapting content to fit audience needs and sizes. As Content Production manager at BOL she
has managed the production of an innovative e-learning tool designed to make it easy to create
online training materials incorporating rich media.
Kate Millard, FPP Adviser for London and the South, BECTA

Kate joined the Ferl Practitioner’s Programme team at Becta in December 2003 and works as FPP
Adviser for London and the South East.
As a result of volunteer work with adults with special needs, Kate became interested in education
and started as a learning support worker at Lewisham College while teaching part-time and
achieving her Certificate in Education. Kate worked as IT lecturer in the School of Supported
Learning with students from 14 years upwards with varying levels of learning difficulties and
disabilities. She was also appointed an ILT Champion and became a Key and Basic Skills
coordinator.

Having trained as a lawyer, Hilary moved to marketing and PR, and then completed her PGCE in
1995. She has been seconded as a regional practitioner to the London Region Standards Unit
since March 2004, from Christ the King Sixth Form College, Lewisham, where she had been Head
of Law and had taught on levels 1-3 business courses in addition to law AS and A2.

Malcolm Ryan, Principal Lecturer, University of Greenwich

Malcolm Ryan is a principal lecturer in Education in the School of Education and Training at the
University of Greenwich. He is a qualified and experienced educational technologist and brings
these skills to his role as Flexible Learning Co-ordinator. He is tutor to a wide range of adult
students undertaking continuing professional development (CPD) programmes. He specialises in
working with students at a distance and has developed considerable expertise in exploiting
information and communication technology (ICT) in support of learning and teaching and is
programme co-leader of the innovative Certificate of Professional Development in eLearning,
Teaching and Training (CeLTT).
He is known for working collaboratively with colleagues across Europe and regularly acts as a
consultant within/out the university. Recent projects include an analysis of innovative practice in
the training of trainers Europe-wide and the identification of new competencies in the design,
development and delivery of eLearning. He is on the Editorial Committee of IJEL, a reviewer for
ALT-J and on the Programme Committees of AACE’s Ed-Media conference and ALT-C

Christian is the Development Manager for RKL (formerly LWTS) who have developed a number of
innovative and interactive online e-learning applications specifically for Skills for Life learners.

Simon Walker, Principal Lecturer, University of Greenwich

Simon Walker is a principal lecturer at the University of Greenwich, School of Education and
Training, Department of Education Leadership and Development. His teaching and research
interests lie in the development and evaluation of interactive educational multimedia and the use
of eLearning across all sectors in Education. He has presented keynote presentations and papers
on this subject in conferences in the UK, Europe, USA and Canada and is a member of the
programme committee of a large international conference in educational technology.
He is programme co-leader of the Certificate of Professional Development in eLearning, Teaching
and Training (CeLTT). He is currently involved in a European funded project researching into the
nature and role of collaborative learning in the training of trainers using eLearning.
