F ROM THE P RESIDENT ’ S D ESK C OMING CDCT E VENTS !
Next Club Meeting will be 6:30 pm August 3rd at
We are all breathing a big sigh of relief – by all measures, our The Cellar in the Valley, 196 Front Street Owego,
recognized Breed Show and Schooling Show were both great NY (607)687-2016
successes. I can’t say it too often – so many thanks are due to all http: www.thecellarrestaurant.net
our volunteers who made the shows possible. And the weather
was wonderfully cooperative! Please look for more details and
results later in this newsletter.
Now we have July and August to relax a bit as we train for our
September Recognized Show. Also, please be sure to patronize
the shows offered by our sister clubs, Central NYDCTA and September 10th & 11th CDCT Recognized Show at
WNYDA. The calendar for these events is also in the newsletter. Chemung County Fairgrounds, Horseheads, NY
Remember that we have instituted two new inter-GMO awards:
one for High Point, and the other for participation. In order to
qualify for the High Point award, tests must be submitted from
Recognized competitions. The Participation awards will be given
to horse-rider teams that compete at either Recognized or unrec-
ognized shows sponsored by more than one of the participating
GMO’s, with scores of 60% or higher, who have also met their Keep watch for CDCT’s Fundraising Calendar
individual GMO’s volunteer requirement. Please contact me for
more details.
available in the coming weeks!!
There will not be a Board meeting in July. The next meeting will
be August 3 at 6:30 at the Cellar in the Valley in Owego. Please
plan to join us as we finalize plans for the show and fundraising
for Reins of Hope. Remember that all members are welcome at
all Board meetings, and you may feel free to invite guests who
may be interested in joining CDCT.
Good luck with all your training and showing goals, raising your
foals, and whatever else you enjoy doing during the hot summer
months.
Cheers,
Carol

CDCT 2011 Schooling Show
Submitted by Dinah Guarino
Once again CDCT delivered a great show for many enthusiastic
dressage riders. Two weeks before the show our club was
doubtful we were going to even have a show to having a school-
ing show that was overwhelmingly full. Of course we veteran
show organizers know that is always the way it is. We always
wait until the last minute to send in our entries. After all we
horse owners never know if our steeds will find some malady to
befall them before a show. Some mysterious lameness or injury
always seems to appear when the mention of horse show
reaches their ears. But not all the blame belongs to the horses.
As riders we can never make up our minds what classes to en-
ter. Are we ready for that first level test or should we stay at
training level. So all of that being said we knew the entries
would come. Unfortunately, our breed show did not fill up as
well as the schooling show but the participants who did attend
also enjoyed their experience.
And talk about the weather- it couldn’t have been more perfect.
The weather gods once again smiled upon us to give us sunshine
but not too hot days. And as always we couldn’t have done it
without our marvelous staff. Jacqui Richie had everything all
organized for both shows. It was easy to step in and run the
show on Sunday due to that. Sally Fox who was the official TD
for the Breed Show Saturday, graciously changed hats and
judged the second half of the schooling show Sunday. Thank
you Sally!
Of course we never could have done it without all the volun-
teers. Thanks on Saturday to Michelle Blade who was ring stew-
ard, Jane Marie Law for announcing Anne Ward for scribing
and Donna Young as day manager. Our schooling show kudos to
Ginny Grove, Kathy Thode, Kathie Garnsey, Ed Machak, Kate
Ward, Anne Ward, Pam Newton, Donna Young, Carol Morris,
and Jane Marie Law for ring setup and take down, scribing,
scoring, running and ring stewarding. And if I have forgotten
anyone my apologies.
Look for schooling show results following this newsletter.
