Civil Rights Movement Menu Project

Directions: You will have class time today and you will have homework time to complete your menu on

the Civil Rights. This menu is designed to get you thinking about basic concepts from this unit. You

must complete all three sections of this menu. You must have a cover page for your menu as well.



All work must be your own!!



Appetizer- Pick one of the choices from below.



 Write analogies for each of your vocabulary terms.

 Make a foldable with your vocabulary words and definitions.

 Draw out each of your vocabulary terms. (fold your paper in fourths and draw four on each

side)







Main Course- Choose one of the following



 Make a graphic organizer listing at least three efforts made to end segregation. Each part must

have a description and a symbol to go with it.

 Write an e-mail to a friend in the North describing at least three specific events going on in the

South leading up to the end of segregation. Make sure that you describe in detail what is going

on.

 Make a colored drawing of three efforts made to end segregation in the South. Please label

your drawings so that they will be understood by others.







Dessert- Choose one of the following



 Write an “I Am” poem or your own original poem or song on Freedom Riders, Martin Luther

King, Jr., the NAACP or the SNCCC. If you write your own original poem or song you must have

five verses.

 Make a test on Freedom Riders, Martin Luther King, Jr., the NAACP or the SNCC . The test must

have at least twenty questions.

 Make a wanted poster for the Freedom Riders, Martin Luther King, Jr., the NAACP or the SNCC .

This poster must have a picture and a description underneath the picture of why they are

“wanted”.
