Welcome Mary Francis chaired the meeting and welcomed everyone. 2. Previous Minutes and matters arising Please can all members of the group let SLLP know if they are aware of where their borough’s transition packs are so they can be added onto the Live Learn Work website for all. Action: SLLP to liaise with Debi Christie regarding transition packs. Update on Machinery of Government Changes Mary Francis updated the group that from 1st September the LSC should be able to tell the Local authorities who are transferring over from the LSC. From September the LSC will work partly in a shadow structure through a transitional phase. The SFA will have no local offices but will have a regional structure with contract managers. All details are on the London council 14-19 website http://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/ The Regional Planning Group draws together all work around transition-led by LA’s with the LSC supporting it. The Strategic Partners Group will now be chaired by a children’s services director, Chris Kiernan. Sub regional groups continuation is not final. SLLP is in the progress of submitting a summary of progress against the strategy-a learner version will also be available. Mary gave out a handout on 16-18 commissioning & LLDD to 25. http://www.sllp.org.uk/docs/MaryFrancisPresentation.ppt The group discussed when the responsibility for 16-19 funding transfers to the Local Authorities, LLDD 16-25 responsibilities will also transfer, what happens to ALS for 19-25 and will this be part of the LA funding responsibility or will this be allocated by the SFA? Mary Francis followed up on this and unfortunately there is no clear answer as of yet and this is still being discussed by the LLDD manager group. Foundation Learning Tier Diana Muallem, LSIS Diana gave a presentation on the Foundation Learning Tier http://www.sllp.org.uk/docs/Post16_GSbriefing_slideset_DM1206final.ppt 4. What Bromley are planning to do to implement the Foundation Learning Tier within their discrete provision? Bob Collier, Bromley College. LSC funded projects 2009-2010 Debi Christie, LSC Debi Christie updated the group that five projects that had been successful in gaining funding for projects for 2009-10. It was decided to give those projects who received funding from last year the funding again to progress on what had already been achieved. For instance: SLLP to run a phase 2 of their WBL taster Day sessions. Orchard Hill College had been given further funding for their virtual resource centre-any questions please contact Caroline Allen. At Kingston College the café was being refurbished for social enterprise Merton College for a Life Skills Centre. CALAT-Improving learners through enrichment skills 6. Update of WBL Taster Project Janice Pigott, SLLP A handout was given on the WBL taster Project http://www.sllp.org.uk/docs/Presentation_to_the_LLDD_Networks.ppt Janice informed the group that following on from the GetPaid project a guide has been produced to inform parents/carers the routes into work based learning for young people with LLDD. AOB LSC document on discretionary finance released. Further guidance and links are in the e-bulletin. Croydon LLDD Directory The Croydon LLDD directory has been completed and will be available on the SLLP website as a PDF shortly. 8.
