Is there a registration deadline?
Registration deadline is September 4th. Any player who registers after
this date is not guaranteed to be placed on a team. This deadline will allow the time
needed to properly analyze the numbers registered and prepare the evaluation and
communications to everyone before the evaluations start. All registrations
received after September 4th from players who played in Strathmore last
year will be assessed a $100.00 penalty in addition to their registration fee.
What do I need to do to get a Release from SMRA if I want
to play elsewhere or from my Home Association if I want
to play in Strathmore?
Please note that if you wish to play for SMRA but live in a different Association‟s
boundaries, or live in SMRA boundaries but wish to play for a different Association,
you must register with your Home Association in accordance with Ringette Alberta
Guidelines. No releases will be granted by any Association unless the player
has first registered with their home association.
Ringette Alberta Player Release forms must be filled out by the Home Association,
the receiving Association and the Player/ family. Player Release guidelines and forms
are available on the Ringette Alberta website or Click here to view and print.
If I live out of town, do I need to pay the Town of
Strathmore Out of Town fees?
Yes. Town of Strathmore Out of Town forms can be obtained at the Town Office or by
contacting Cheryl Graff at email@example.com , and submitted at the Arena “Town of
Strathmore” drop box or Town office.
When are player evaluations?
Evaluation dates and times will be between September 11 and 24thth.
Specifics will be soon be posted on our website, www.strathmoreringette.ca
When will we find out who our Coach is, and what team we
SMRA Board intends to have teams and coaches finalized the last week of September, after
evaluations are complete. Each player will receive a phone call from their Coach when
teams are finalized.
When will the season start?
When your Coach calls, he/she should be able to confirm the first practice time.
Practices will generally start at the beginning of October.
U6 does not participate in any scheduled games as it is primarily a “Learn to Skate”
program. The U6 “Pre-Bunny” program usually begins early – mid October
U9 will focus on FUNdamentals for the first 1/3 of the season. Scheduled games
within the Zone begin December 1st
U10 division scheduled games will be scheduled from the beginning of the season,
after Thanksgiving weekend
Scheduled games for U12 and higher divisions begin after the Thanksgiving weekend
How many teams will there be next season? Will there be
an A team in my child’s division?
Speculating on player registration numbers and teams would be premature until
after our Registration deadline of September 4th. After that time, SMRA will review
the numbers and establish a potential forecast of expected teams for the season.
Below are some of the guidelines that are used when forming teams:
Teams can have as few as 9 players, up to a maximum of 17 players. The number of
players on each team depends on registration numbers each season.
U6 does not have teams – players may be separated according to ability for
progressive skill training throughout the season
U9 & U10 divisions: in the event that there is more than one team, the teams will
divided into balanced teams as much as is possible
U12: If there is one U12 team, SMRA has the option of entering that team in the A or
B division. (At this time, it appears that there will be 6-7 „B‟ teams in Zone 2, so
SMRA would in all likelihood submit a B team). In the event that more than one U12
team is formed, as of August 26th Zone 2 has adopted the guidelines as put forth by
Sport Canada, Ringette Canada and LTAD, and will not be tiering at the Petite (U12) level.
Therefore if SMRA has two teams, two equal B teams will be formed. If there are three
teams, SMRA must field an A, B and C team.
U14 and up: if there is one team in each division, SMRA can assign the team an A or
B level. If more than one team is formed in a division, then according to Ringette
Alberta regulations SMRA must field one A and one B team.
