The Purifying Significance of
Jesus’ Triumph Over Death
Resurrection Power for Believers
. . . and what is the surpassing greatness of His
power toward us who believe. These are in
accordance with the working of the strength of
His might which He brought about in Christ,
when He raised Him from the dead and seated
Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
The Ascended Anointed One
PSA 110:1-2 The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at
My right hand Until I make Your enemies a
footstool for Your feet. The Lord will stretch
forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying,
"Rule in the midst of Your enemies."
Hebrews 7:15-16 And this is clearer still, if another
priest arises according to the likeness of
Melchizedek, who has become such not on the
basis of a law of physical requirement, but
according to the power of an indestructible life.
Hebrews 7:28 Therefore He is able also to save
forever those who draw near to God through
Him, since He always lives to make intercession

power and dominion, and every name that is

The King of the Universe/The Head
of the Church
Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things in
subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head
over all things to the church, which is His body,
the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
The Pre-Eminent Prince of Peace
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold
together. He is also head of the body, the
church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn
from the dead, so that He Himself will come to
have first place in everything.
Why Resurrection Power is
EPH 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because
of His great love with which He loved us, even
when we were dead in our transgressions, made
us alive together with Christ (by grace you have
been saved) and raised us up with Him, and
seated us with Him in the heavenly places in

the Power of the Resurrection
Is there Healing in the Atonement?
ISA 53:5 But He was pierced through for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell
upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.
New Testament Commentary on
1Peter 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His
body on the cross, so that we might die to sin
and live to righteousness; for by His wounds
you were healed.
Establishing a Biblical Worldview
2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose
heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet
our inner man is being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 5:4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we
groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be
unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will
be swallowed up by life.
Defining the Power of the
Resurrection Towards the Believer
The believer in the Messiah receives
through the Power of the Death and
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
#1 Cling to the Doctrine of the
1 Corinthians 15:12-15: Now if Christ is preached, that
He has been raised from the dead, how do some among
you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if
there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has
been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our
preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God,
because we testified against God that He raised Christ,
whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not
#1 Cling to the Doctrine of the
1Corinthians 15:16-20 For if the dead are not
raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if
Christ has not been raised, your faith is
worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those
also who have fallen asleep in Christ have
perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life
only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the
first fruits of those who are asleep.
#2 Live as Those Alive from the Dead
Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but
alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not
let sin reign in your mortal body so that you
obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the
members of your body to sin as instruments of
unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God
as those alive from the dead, and your members
as instruments of righteousness to God.
#3 Set Your Sights on
the Finish Line
Philippians 3:10-13 . . . that I may know Him and
the power of His resurrection and the fellowship
of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;
in order that I may attain to the resurrection
from the dead. Not that I have already obtained
it or have already become perfect, but I press on
so that I may lay hold of that for which also I
was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Conclusion: Stirred to the Promise
of Future Glory
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the
dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus
from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
