Soda Machine: Thanks to Alan Fan, a new member, and the guy
who won the R.O.’s Glock in 2006 and an STI at the Oldbridge
Fields of Steel Match this year, the soda machine appears to be
working. Keep your fingers crossed, don’t’ put in the last dollar
you need for bus fare to get home, but if you are flush, take a
chance and buy a soda. If there are any problems get in touch with
Alan, with the luck he has had recently I don’t expect there will be
any problems.
Only at the Pine Barrens: I belong to and shoot at several ranges
on the Island and upstate. I have witnessed some unusual
occurrences over the years but what happened on July 15th at the
Pine Barrens takes the cake. Our good friend, Murray Leff , the
renowned author, recently had his first book, Lens of an
Infantryman, published. He brought copies of his book, and
signed each copy a shooter requested. Imagine, guys that sign
their own names with an “X” had the signature and kind words of a
renowned author on the flyleaf of their new books. There wasn’t a
dry eye in the house. Seriously, if you have a Library card, ask
your library to get Murray’s book. They will buy the book if
library member request it and I.D. the title and the author.
Long Island Championship R.O.’s: Just a reminder. Let Joe
Procopio know what your plans are. If you are shooting Saturday,
Joe will make up the same set up he makes up for other
competitors. It will make sign up Sat. much quicker. You can
reach Joe at 631 563-2334 or jlpro@optonline.net.
Reminder to All Members: The range will be closed to all but
competitors on 9/15 -16 for the Long Island Championship and
on 10/6 -7 for the Glock Match. Don’t make a wasted trip.
August Matches:
8/5, Steel: Wilbert Spruell, the Steel Czar, will challenge us again.
New fee schedule this month, $20. Wilbert says the steel is to
heavy to do it for ten dollars. At least four stages of static steel,
one 21 plate stage of fall down steel and two 11 plate stages, bring
plenty of ammo.
8/12, Pistol Caliber Carbine, Shotgun, Pistol Match: The title
says it all but needs some explaining. This is a five stage, multi
gun match but the carbine(rifle) must be a pistol caliber, you also
need a regular pistol, not necessarily the same caliber and a
shotgun. M-1 carbines are O.K. but AR’s, AK’s, M-1A’s, M-1’s,
FAL’s, ect aren’t. PISTOL CALIBER CARBINES ONLY.
You will need the following ammo: 78 Rds. Pistol Caliber
Carbine, 92 Pistol, 18 Birdshot and 7 slugs. It would probably
be a good idea to bring some extra. This is all the information I
have at this time. If you call me with a good question, no problem,
but you better read this before you call me with a not so good
question. I will hunt you down like the dog you are.
8/26, Cowboy Action: Ride with the East End Regulators as they
attempt to tame the West, yet again. If you have ever been
interested in how the Cowboys do it, this is an excellent place to
start. Stop by and take a look. Just be sure to bring eye and ear
protection.
