Mail Certificate Pilot For Non-Pilot Stores
The Mail Certificate Pilot is being conducted in select stores in the San Francisco Bay and Kansas Regions.
Although your store is not included in the pilot, you may have customer’s redeeming
the Non-Transferable Mail Certificate in your store.
Print and place on your MOD clipboard.
What You Need to Know • The San Francisco Bay and Kansas Regions are piloting a New Return /
Exchange policy that focuses on returns without an original receipt.
• Customers are sent a Non-Transferable Mail Certificate* in the mail, rather than
receiving a GiftCard for items returned without a receipt.
* Non-Transferable Mail Certificateà Store credit for merchandise returned without an
original receipt. (See an example below)
What Cashiers Need To Do You will not be able to issue Mail Certificates, only redeem them.
How To Redeem a Non-Transferable Mail Certificate
1. Ask the customer for a valid ID. (See below for a list of valid ID’s.)
2. The name on the ID must be the name on the Non-Transferable Mail Certificate
and the photo must be the customer using the Non-Transferable Mail Certificate.
3. Process the sale as normal, press TOTAL.
4. Key in the amount of the Non-Transferable Mail Certificate, press MDSE CERT.
5. Scan or key in the Non-Transferable Mail Certificate number, press ENTER.
6. Insert Non-Transferable Mail Certificate in the register, press CLEAR.
7. Any Remaining balances from a Non-Transferable Mail Certificate should be
applied to a GiftCard.
8. File the redeemed Non Transferable Mail Certificate with your nightly media.
Valid Identification Photo identification that may be used by a customer to redeem a Non-Transferable
Mail Certificate is limited to:
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid State/Provincial issued ID
- Military ID
- Student ID
- Passport
• Check the ID to ensure that the photo matches the person.
Valid temporary licenses and driver's licenses from states/provinces that do not issue
a photo version are acceptable forms of identification. An expired piece of ID is not
considered valid.

page on GapWeb. This can be found under Hot Spots. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find a PDF
named “Internal Placement Application”. Click on the title of the PDF and the form will populate on your screen.
How to Submit your Internal Application:
1. Once you have the application open on your screen, print it.
2. Complete the application (If the position you are interested in is within your own region, contact your direct
supervisor).
3. If you are applying for a field position, please fax your internal application to the appropriate recruiter using the

On 1/22, we announced the role of the FCMs to stores and field management.
The FCM Team Is Ready To Roll!
The FCMs have been travelling the country to gather information and strategize on how best to partner with you
to reach your Old Navy Account goals and increase sales in your stores. Starting 4/3, they'll be hitting 9
districts and 5 new stores in the next quarter.

How They Will Work With You
Who Partners With FCM • The RM is the target audience for the FCM.
• Prior to any visit, the FCM will contact the RM and strategize together on
executing an effective visit.
The DMs Role Once the RM/FCM agree on a strategy, the FCM will contact the DM to schedule
dates of store visits and any conference calls or meetings.
When The FCM Visits The FCM can visit stores alone or with DMs. The FCM will notify the regional office
Stores – How The prior to all visits.
RM/DM Should Work
With Them If You Are Visiting Stores And You Want Them Along
• If you are scheduled to visit a store and meet w/the management team,
and Old Navy Account is a focus of the meeting, bring your FCM along!
• DMs work through your RM to get on the FCMs calendar.
How Else The FCM Can FCMs can provide ongoing monthly support. Here’s how:
Help • participate in conference calls
• help strategize how to reach your goals and increase sales
• offer best practices
• suggest new contests
• help overcome customer objections
The Next Steps The FCM will contact RMs before they visit to work through what their agenda will
be and how they can best serve the region/district/stores, while they are visiting.
