Promote Space
Exploration
By: Dor Cohen and Eric Chien
Introduction
Space exploration is being debated of whether it
should be continued or stopped. In our opinion,
we should continue space exploration. People
have been complaining about NASA being a
waste of money, time, and much more. In this
PowerPoint presentation, we will show you three
overarching reasons with details going more in
depth into them of why space exploration must
be continued. Hopefully, this will impact you
positively about space exploration and the future
of it.
Don’t Stop Space Exploration!
Space exploration is the key to mankind
future. If we stop it, it will ruin everything
astronauts trained and worked on for more
than 50 years! Exploring space will tell us
the secrets of life and soon enough, why
we are here on this planet. If Space
Exploration is stopped, human beings will
be stuck on one single planet for the
~never-ending~ generations that behold
us.
Benefiting Our World and Man-kind
NASA has been overseeing our world for
years, beneficially for our world and man-
kind. From storm-spotting to air pollution to
GPS. NASA has been here for us almost
every hour! NASA has one, made life
easier and two, protected the Earth 24
hours and 7 days a week. Without it we
wouldn’t have some of the things we have
today and helped the Earth out.
Helping Our Ozone Layer
NASA has been scanning our ozone layer
and has seen how much damage has
been done to it. Also, NASA has found
man-made chemicals that damage our
ozone layer and has reported them to the
government, who then banned them.
Comparing the ozone layer now to before,
it has healed much more than before.
Predicting Feast and Famine
NASA has been predicting when people
are going to grow extra food and when
people are going to be short of food.
Moreover, they can use that information to
get food from people who have extra food
to people who lack food. Without NASA
people wouldn’t be able to find out who
needs food and people who have too
much food.
Global Warming
Global Warming is also something NASA
has been tracking. Right now it has been
rising and scientists are trying to find ways
to reduce it. Without NASA we wouldn’t
even have known about global warming.
global warming, how it is caused, what it
does, and the dangers of global warming.
Unfortunately, NASA has not found a way
to fix the problem, but they have created
public awareness.
New Technology / Space Spin-offs
Space spin-offs are objects originally coming
from space exploration that helps us in our
every-day lives. Every mission at least gives us
one piece of new technology or space spin-off.
Space spin-offs can be used for advanced
safety, fun, heath care, or making life easier.
Thousands of the items, used for everyday or
occasionally, is a space spin-off and without
space exploration, our technology will cease to
continue advancing.
Navigation
NASA has sent satellites to help
navigation. GPS require the satellites to
map routes of the destination, so they can
find and calculate the fastest route to your
desired destination. Usually people use
GPS in cars. Another navigation system is
Google Earth. Google Earth has the same
function as a GPS, but it is a website that
you use before you leave.
Health Care
NASA even benefits the health care
department. The artificial heart is an
example, it replaces people who need
heart transplants because of a critical
illness. Also, they have given artificial
limbs to people, another space spin-off.
The artificial limbs are used to replace
disabled or unusable limbs that need to be
cut off or removed.
Safety
NASA has also made countless space spin-offs
to protect us like the fire resistant reinforcement.
The fire resistant reinforcement that protect
houses or structures to lose the base that holds
the building up from being destroyed, making
the structure fall. Also, highways safety is
another space spin-off that keeps us safe on the
streets because of a water resistant coating that
keeps cars from slipping and crashing.
Space Spin-offs and their Uses
Highway safety is a Space Spin-Off that has protected us
with lots of crashes while we’re driving. has made
highways resist liquid so cars don’t crash because of
wet-weather accidents.
Artificial heart is another Space Spin-Off that replaces a
human being’s heart. This has now helped more than
200 patients and lives.
Shock absorbent shoes are once again, ANOTHER Space
Spin-Off! It is a high-advanced athletic shoe that not
only absorbs energy, but redistributes it to the runner in
every step. It overall increases the running efficiency of
the person with the shoes.
Benefits Our Economic System
Right now, our economic system is in a
terrible condition and many people are
either in poverty or are already homeless
because of a loss of a job. NASA is
providing hundreds of thousands of jobs,
which is helping our economic system.
Moreover, it supplies space spin-offs to
sell. Furthermore, NASA benefits the other
agencies. Without NASA our debt would
be even bigger than it is now!
Money Given to NASA Isn’t Much
NASA only gets about 19 billion dollars.
This may seem like a lot if you use this to
buy food but, if you compare this to other
departments, it is a small portion (shown
on next slide). NASA always uses the
money wisely and almost always has no
money left. Also, NASA has always had a
95% of a mission succeeding, so they
barely have wasted the money.
Helps Other Departments
NASA has always given more money than
they received. What I mean by saying that
is that NASA gives back eleven dollars for
every dollar they receive in the form of
benefits to humanity, they do this by giving
space spin-offs. The space spin-off than
either is used to enhance a department or
is sold to other countries to recover our
gigantic debt of about 13.5 trillion dollars
(shown on slide before this).
Provides Many Jobs
NASA can hire up to 40 -50 thousand
people each mission! Right now there are
hundreds of thousands of people in
poverty or are currently poor, mostly
because of a lost job. With NASA’s help,
we helped decrease the poverty rate.
Although NASA helps decrease the
poverty rate, the rate still grows ,but at a
slower rate( shown on next slide). Again
NASA has helped our country.
Conclusion
Hopefully, this PowerPoint presentation
has beneficially impacted you to continue
space exploration. These overarching
reasons and facts have hopefully taught
you more about space exploration. Every
mission has been helping us advance in
technology and knowledge. Also, I hope
the next president will benefit NASA and
give more funds to them so we may do
more space exploration.
