S6E03 – A History Of War Introducing: Rachel Taylor as Rebecca Prewitt Peter Sarsgaard as Adam Collison Jennifer Crystal as Evelyn Vance Shawn Doyle as James Umbridge Opening Scene: We see a very familiar backdrop (the island) and screaming can be heard from behind some trees, we then see a young boy, around 10 running looking scared and trying to follow the direction of the screams. As he runs he eventually stumbles across a lady giving birth. Lady: HELP ME! Boy: MUM!? Lady: Jacob, please hold my hand. Do what you do. At this point Jacob runs over to his mum and holds her hand and shuts his eyes, when he opens them his mum is in no pain and holding a newly-born baby. His mum however looks disgusted. Jacob: Mum, I have a brother! Jacob's Mum: I don't want him Jacob: What! Jacob's mum: I do not want this baby. We shall leave it here and never speak of it again. Jacob: No, my brother. Why are you saying this mummy? Jacobs Mum: When you were born I knew you were special, I could feel that you were destined for great things. And look at you, you have powers beyond any human before you. I have nothing but bad feeling for this child.
Jacob begins to cry Jacob: But I can change him, I'll look after him mum! I want him to be called Esau, because he is my brother. Jacob's mum lays the newborn baby down on the floor and stands up Jacob: Be careful mum you might hurt yourself Jacobs Mum: I cannot be hurt, you have touched me. Come now Jacob, you will walk with me now Jacob: NO! Jacob's mum: What did you say to me? Jacob: If you won't look after him, I will Jacobs Mum: Fine, stay with him, you will never see me again. I want to be as far away from him as possible Jacob: Can I ask you a question? Jacobs Mum: Yes Jacob: If you are my mother as you say I am then why do I not care that I will never see you again Jacobs mum: Because you are not normal. You will look after your brother, and he will betray you. You will be at war for eternity. Jacob just glares at his mother, picks up Esau and walks off leaving his shocked mother alone END OF OPENING SCENE We see a backdrop which looks similar to the island, and as the camera pans around we see two people walking hand in hand. We do not recognise either of the people. As they get closer we can hear what they are saying. The message “The Island – 1954” comes up on the screen Man: So you gave Richard the slip?
Woman: Yep, he knows that I have been wandering though, It's only a matter of time until he questions me Man: Don't worry about Richard, when my plan comes together we can be together forever. Woman: You keep going on about this plan Adam, but you never tell me what it is? Adam: That's because...you..you wouldn't understand. Woman: I wish you would stop saying that, I deserve to know Adam: You do deserve to know, and if I told you it would explain everything. Why I am not a part of Richard's group, why I live alone, everything. Woman: Then just tell me! Adam: I can't I have certain rules I have to follow my dad … Woman: I don't care Adam, tell me please Adam: Well as you know, I was washed up on shore here when I was just a baby and thats when my father took me in, well adopted me of sorts Woman: Yeah, get to the bits that I dont know Adam: well, I have a... a scripted life. My dad, he gives me lists, he says that if I follow them, then he can provide me a perfect life, and to prevent.....prevent a war. Woman: What!, that's ridiculous. Your dad always seems to be putting ideas into your head Adam, it's about time you thought for yourself. Adam: Hey, dont say that, he has shown me proof, I am a precautionary measure. I'm keeping my dad alive, but please stop now I'm not supposed to tell you, he said that if someone was to find out, then the secret would be lost, and he'd no longer be safe from the enemy. Woman: Hey Adam, shut up, forget I asked, let's just have some fun, were here anyways
Adam and the woman then walk into the caves that we saw in season 1, and each take their places in the little holes that we saw two skeletons in, again in season 1. They both lay down. As they shut their eyes Esau abruptly appears next to the woman. Esau (whispering): Thank you for getting it out of him Evelyn, i'm one step closer to killing Jacob, 1 more precautionary measure down. Esau then touches Evelyn on the head and blood begins to leak from her eyes and ears. Evelyn dies. Before Adam even knows what has gone on, Esau is stooped over him Esau: BOO! Adam: Ahh! Esau: Before I kill you, I would like to say thank you Adam, you finally gave away your fathers secret. Foolish boy, how could Jacob ever have entrusted you with something so valuable. At this point Esau kills Adam in the same way he killed Evelyn. End Of Scene
The next scene we open up to is again on the island but there is construction work happening. Pierre Chang and and couple of other unrecognisible people walk into view, and it becomes apparent that this is the initial construction of the Dharma Village. “The Island – 1970” then appears on screen. Esau then walks into view and and walks straight up to Chang Chang: Who are you? Esau: Hello Mr Chang, my name is Alan Surge, im your engineer sent from the mainland Chang: Oh, I didnt see you on the sub. Anyway welcome Alan, is there anything you wanted?
Esau: Yes I was just wondering where I could find a certain Mr James Umbridge, it's regarding the electricity flow between houses. Chang: Mr Umbridge, I didnt think he knew anything about electricity, but yeah anyway he is just over the hill in the small white tent..... Ever so sorry Mr Surge but I am a busy man Esau: No problem sir, i'll be seeing you.
As Chang walks away, Esau walks over the hill and approaches a small white tent, he goes in and a man is sleeping inside. Esau: Wakey Wakey sleepy head. James: Huh?? Who are you!? Esau: Tell me Mr Umbridge, when you arrived on this island was it you who was approached by a fair haired man, named Jacob James: Huh, what does that have to do with anything? Esau: Please Mr Umbridge, your life could very well depend on the answer to this question James: Well yeah, he was kinda strange actually. Kept asking me questions about being some sort of precuation, didnt really follow it anyway I was still drowsy from the drugs that they give us from the sub. Well anyways, I just told him yeah whatever and shook his hand, haven't seen him since. Esau: Interesting, so he touched you as well eh? Guess he placed quite a large burden on you! James: Burden, what are you on about? Esau then touches the man's head and he dies in the same way that Adam and Eve did. Esau: 1 more down, god knows how many left to go End Of Scene The Start of the next scene is Esau walking through the jungle at sunset the message “The Island – 1977” comes on the screen
Jacob appears from behind a tree Jacob: Hi there Esau Esau stops and turns, the look of hatred prominent on his face Esau: Wow, I must be priviledged, the fabled leader shows his face
Jacob: Now now little girl, put down the handbags. Esau: What do you want Jacob (ignoring him): You know what is the funniest thing about all of this Esau: Enlighten me Jacob: The fact that you get so annoyed with me, and you can't yet hurt me, so you have to just stand there with that uppity look about you. Makes me laugh. Esau: You'll get what's coming to you. All of your precautionary measures, i'm eradicating them all. Jacob: True, you are becoming quite tiresome on that front. But do you not think that I am making steps in the right direction, and I mean come on both Adam and Eve and that Dharma idiot weren't the hardest things in the world to work out, plus ruining my precautions isn't everything. Esau: Huh? Jacob: Oh my, you really are clueless aren't you. I told you all those years ago, you need to be working on finding yourself a loophole THAT is what will help kill me, all this stuff that you are sidetracking yourself with will only keep me dead, looks to me like you're doing things the wrong way around. Esau: Shut up I know what i'm doing Jacob Jacob: Silly amateur, how could mother have ever given birth to you. Esau: Don't you dare
Jacob: Tell you what, I'll give you a clue. I have only 1 precautionary measure left, and if all goes to plan, you won't be able to touch him until at least 2007 Esau: What makes you so sure?
Jacob: I have found someone who the rules don't apply to.... brother Esau: That.....that doesn't matter. You are still weak and foolish. Jacob: I'm gonna leave now, before you begin to make a fool of yourself. I have work to do anyway Esau: Oh yeah what is that Jacob: Word has it that a certain group of people who shouldn't be here for a few years have turned up, might have to go and touch them somehow, make sure they all turn up on queue later Esau: I think you're going mad Jacob: On the contrary brother, I'm thinking of going into business. I quite fancy an airline company Esau: What the hell would someone like us need with an airline company? Jacob: I think i'll call it Oceanic Esau: Can I ask you something? Jacob: Go Ahead Esau: How comes even though you say you're my brother, I feel no love towards you and all I want to do is kill you? Jacob: Because mother was right Jacob then walks away from Esau End Of Scene The next scene opens once more with Esau walking through the jungle the message “The Island – 2004” comes across the screen. Esau continues to walk when a crashing noise can be heard from the sky, Esau looks up
and sees Oceanic flight 815 splitting in half. His eyes run over the “oceanic” sign Esau (whispering to himself): Oceanic!!!??? at this point he transforms into his “black smoke” form and rushes off into the trees. We then watch the scene from season 1, where the survivors of the crash witness the “monster” tearing through the trees, except this time the camera changes to Esau, who we see transform back into Esau's form. Esau: What the hell? This wasn't supposed to happen. Esau then walks in the trees hiding from the gazes of the survivors when he sees John Locke from through the trees. Esau: Oh my god. It's finally him. Guess i've just found my loophole. A wide smirk then spreads across Esau's face. End Of Scene The next scene then opens with a view of the temple and we see Richard and his group comprising of Jack, Kate etc gathering in front of it. “the island – current day” comes up across the screen. Richard: Here we are Jack: What exactly are we actually gonna do here Richard? Richard: I'm gonna give you a briefing Kate: A Briefing?! Sun: Richard, I'm confused Richard: We are now at war. Every side in a war gets a briefing. After Richard says this a person clapping can be heard off camera. Everyone turns (as does the camera) Esau is leant against a tree. Richard looks horrified Esau: Well done Richard, doing everything to the book I see Richard:
Don't let him touch you, In fact don't even look at him Esau: Don't worry everyone, I haven't quite yet mastered the art of medusa style killings. So richard, what's your plan now that I have killed your master ? Richard: Well to stay away from you and wait for.. Esau: (interrupting): Desmond is on his way, thanks to good old Tony.. Sawyer: Who the hell is Tony? Esau: That doesn't matter, now if you don't mind shutting up, children should be seen and not heard. Sawyer: What did you say to me you son of a bitch Esau: Haha, this cowboy actually thinks he can dance. I'll deal with you later. As i was saying Desmond is on his way, and when he gets here I shall kill him. Jacob will be no more Jack: What the hell does Desmond have to do with all of this? Richard: I'll tell you everything once we get inside Jack: Why is it so important that we go inside Richard: Because Jacob built it so he can't get in there. Esau: Hide away for as long as you want Richard. He will get here and I will kill him, I will finally be able to rule this place as my own, on my own. The way it should be. In the meantime so you lot don't forget what your up against... At this point Esau runs over to a random other and touches his head. There is an outbreak of terror and Richards group seems to run in every direction Richard: Wait come back, we need to go in here (Richard opens the door to the temple and only the main characters enter) Through the semi-darkness and people running Esau can be seen looking for Richard
Esau: It's not long now Richard. Richard then prematurely shuts the door of the temple, leaving all his people outside with Esau. LOST
