Dear Parents:
My name is Mr. Sean Flueso and I will be your child’s science teacher this year. I am
originally from Allentown, and a graduate of Parkland High School. I earned my B.S. in
Education in Physics from Bloomsburg University, my M.A. in Teaching at Marygrove College
in Michigan, and my Teacher Leadership Certification at Lehigh University. My mission is that
each day, your child will leave my class with not only new knowledge and understanding of the
subject material, but he/she will know that I care for him/her and am enthusiastic about his/her
education.
The expectations and responsibilities I place on each student are challenging. However,
success is achievable with hard work. I have respect for the fact that your son/daughter may be
involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. With that in mind, I still expect him/her to
recognize that education should be of most importance. Just like playing a sport or a musical
instrument, mastering physics requires lots of practice. I expect each student to put forth effort
in class and display respect for his/her peers and the teacher at all times.
Giving your child positive reinforcement at home for good performances in school is
very beneficial to his/her education. Please show concern for your child’s performance in my
class. To assist you and your child I have developed a website for those of you who have access
to the Internet. At http://psdweb.parklandsd.org/flueso/, you can find information about what is
going on in class. There is a downloadable template for grade calculation, a list of what has been
graded, and a list of what was covered for students who have been absent. Also included are
links to the textbook websites and much more pertinent class information. In addition, you may
also monitor your son/daughter’s grades through the Home Access Center available online.
Contact our guidance office if you have problems accessing this. If you have any questions or
concerns that I may be able to assist you with, please feel free to contact me at 610-351-5600 ext.
73147, or e-mail me at fluesos@parklandsd.org. I am looking forward to this school year, and I
hope your child is as well. Please acknowledge you have read this letter by placing your
signature at the bottom, cutting along the line, and having your child return the slip to me.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Sean Flueso
