                                                                   July 4 to July 29, 2005




SEE THE WORLD THIS SUMMER IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD!!!!
Wake Forest University’s Department of Communications is hosting the Southeast Europe Youth
Leadership Institution (SEEYLI) on the Reynolda Campus this July.

Students and teachers from Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia have
been selected to participate in a program to learn about civil rights. We would like to invite you to join in
this program and to participate in the workshops and social events.

To be eligible you must:

                 Be a high school student
                 Have parental/legal guardian approval to participate
                 Submit your intent to participate by the end of June, 2005

Classes offered during the first two weeks of July include. The classes are taught by WFU faculty.

                 Civil Rights and the Courts
                 Civil Rights in the South: Blacks & Jews
                 Civil Rights and Cinema

Students can participate in the above classes. Each class is offered twice for one week, July 4-8 and July
11-15. A student would choose one class for each week. Of course, students could just attend one class for
either week. Each class meets twice a day 9:30-12:30 & 2:00-5:00 in Greene Hall on the Wake campus. .

The last two weeks of July we will have an International Debate Festival cumulating in a public debate.
Students can participate in this two week public debating program where they will prepare presentations
and engaging in debates with the SEEYLI participants. The debate segment is held July 19-21; 25-28.

There are no fees for participation in the classes or debate segment of the program.

In addition, a three day trip to Atlanta to visit the King Memorial and other area civil rights venues is
planned. Joining this trip will be dependent on space availability and would require a fee of approx. $200.
