DAY 1 – Rahab – Joshua 2:1-7
1. What was Rahab’s occupation?
2. Why did the spies go to the house of a prostitute?
3. The King sends word to Rahab to turn the spies in. She lies to the king’s men and hides the spies. Was she
wrong to lie?
4. Why do you think she helped the spies?
Day 2 – Rahab – Joshua 2:8-21
1. In vs. 8-13, how many times does Rahab refer to the Lord?
2. What clues in her behavior point to true faith?
3. In vs. 17-18, what steps of obedience did the spies require of Rahab in order for her to be saved from
destruction?
4. In vs. 21, how does Rahab respond? What added information do you find in James 2:25-26?
Day 3 – Rahab – Joshua 6:16-25, Joshua 24:23-24, Hebrews 11:31
1. What did Joshua remind the people?
2. In 6:25, what happened to Rahab?
3. From Joshua 24:23-24 what does Joshua command the people? How is this fitting of Rahab’s new life?
4. What “foreign gods” do you need to throw away?
Hebrews 11:31 lists Rahab among the “heroes of faith”. After these incidents in Joshua, she went on to marry Salmon,
become great-grandmother to King David and an ancestor of Jesus.
5. Do you ever find yourself judging Christian women who have a “colorful past? Can you think of an example
when you have judged someone or felt the sting of judgment yourself?
Day 4 – Gomer
NOTE: It is difficult to study Gomer the woman apart from Gomer the symbolic Israel. But here we will try!
Hosea 1:2
1. What does the Lord ask Hosea to do?
2. Why did God ask Hosea to do this? (The short version from vs. 2, not the long version from the whole book!)
Hosea 3:1-2
3. What appears to have happened to Gomer?
4. What does God command Hosea to do? Does Hosea obey?
5. Has God ever asked you to do a hard thing? How did you feel?
6. How do you recognize in adulterous Gomer a picture of your own fickle self?
Day 5 – The Sinful Woman – Luke 7:36-50
1. What four things did this woman specifically do to the feet of Jesus?
2. From vs. 44-46, list three things Simon didn’t do compared to things the sinful woman did.
3. What one thing Simon did that this woman never did? What does her silence suggest to you?
4. In vs. 47, is there any doubt this woman was forgiven?
5. In vs. 48, Jesus is speaking to the woman. Why does He speak these words to her when He had just declared
them to Simon?
