                                                                                                     The study visit to Bratislava is organised by PDCS, SK, within the
                                                                                                     framework of the Strengthening Fundraising Capacities of Non-
                                                                                                     Governmental Development Organisations in Central Europe
                                                                                                     project funded by the European Union and SlovakAid.
Organisations and speakers:

1. WellGiving – www.dakujeme.sk – Mr. Slávka Toscherová
Dakujeme.sk is the first online aid – a project of civic association WellGiving who partnered with major daily newspaper SME. Currently undergoing redesign the portal
allows individual donors with internet banking to help individual causes, mainly in social and health areas. The portal also allows NGOs to use dakujeme.sk widgets on their
individual site and use thus infrastructure of the portal for individual purposes of NGOs.
Topics to be discussed: Online giving, internetbanking transfers, raising e-fundraisers, partnership with media

2. Giving Portal Good Angel – www.dobryanjel.sk – Mr. Peter Guštafík, PDCS
Major giving portal set up by a successful entrepreneur currently with over 86000 individual donors and 280.000 EUR distributed every month to individual causes. The
portal raises donors through the Internet, SMS, mail, mobile phones and credit cards. The portal is unique not only with its story, but also the system of transparency, and
overheads financing. Since its establishement in September 2006 it has already distributed 10 mil. EUR.

3. Community Foundations Architecture – www.mesik.sk - Mr. Juraj Mesík
Mr. Juraj Mesík has rich expertise in work of community foundations and their role in socio-economic development of disadvantaged communities. He has been a very
active NGO activist in Slovakia for years having established the first community foundation and later having worked as a Community Foundation Senior Specialist in the
World Bank in Washington, where he helped spread the concept across the world.
Topics to be discussed: Community foundations and their role in development, cases from Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania

4. Integra Foundation – www.integra.sk – Mr. Allan Bussard
Integra Group creates economic opportunities that give the vulnerable a life of dignity through education, market access, and business investment. They work to help
groups at risk gain business skills, to create job opportunities, to decrease dependency on outside assistance, to strengthen economic development, and to build
democratic civil society. The visit will present practical experiences of doing business with African countries.
Topics to be discussed: Adoption programme Malaika, international development through business.

5. Slovak Committee of UNICEF – www.unicef.sk, www.helpachildunicef.com – Ms. Jana Kelecsényi
Slovak branch of the UN organisation helping most endangered children all around the world. Completely dependent on its own raised funds, the Slovak Committee of
UNICEF has a wide range of developed fundraising techniques and rich experiences in raising private funds for development/humanitarian causes. Its Facebook application
Help a Child with UNICEF allows to support a virtual child and to cover basic things like food or vaccines. It was developed in SK and is to be adopted by global UNICEF.

6. eRko - Movement of Christian Communities of Children – www.erko.sk – Mr. Marián Čaučík, Ján Grenčík
eRko runs the longest and yet still growing public collection for development issues in Slovakia for already 16 years. The collection is community based and run by
volunteers and children in local Christian communities. Inspired by the Austrian model it is successful example of raising private funds for development.

7. Center for Philanthropy – www.cpf.sk – Ms. Milica Danková, Mr. Igor Polakovič
The Center’s aim is to connect those who want to give their financial resources with those who need help and to develop both intellectual and physical space for people
working actively for public benefit. The center has rich experiences in working with companies and currently provides support for an emerging Coalition for Easy Giving. It
has also started a giving portal ludialudom.sk with the internet company SK-NIC

8. PONTIS Foundation – www.pontisfoundation.sk – Ms. Ivana Raslavská, Mr. Pavel Hrica
One of the largest grantmaking and operational foundations in Slovakia. PONTIS encourages individuals and businesses to take responsibility for those in need and for the
world around them, contribute to the building of democracy in non-democratic countries, create awareness about this need in Slovakia, and advocate for values-oriented
Slovak and EU foreign policies. Besides extensive experiences in promoting CSR and cooperation with companies they also run another giving portal dobrakrajina.sk.

9. People in Peril – www.clovekvohrozeni.sk – Ms. Jana Karelová, Mr. Pavol Makyš, Matúš Palvecký)
People in Peril is a non-profit civil society association, established in Slovakia in 1999. Their mission is to provide effective support to those who suffer the consequences of
natural catastrophes, conflicts and authoritarian regimes. PiP strives to contribute to forming open, tolerant and solidary society in Slovakia. Their activities range from
Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation to Human Rights Advocacy and Education and Awareness Raising Activities in Slovakia, which include the One World
Documentary Film Festival.
