1_ Create an ad in the Ad Banner Manager

Document Sample
1_ Create an ad in the Ad Banner Manager Powered By Docstoc
					1) Create an ad in the Ad Banner Manager

2) Upload an image (any image will do), define the link, assign the correct placement, etc.

3) Submit the ad

4) Go to the front of the site and copy the link from the ad you just submitted (it should look
something like this: http://www.oxcyon.com/ME2/Apps/AdManager/abmc.asp?b=18&z=1)

5) Using Flash open the FLA of the element you would like to have tracked.

6) Create a new layer (it must be on top)

7) Using the rectangle tool (or whatever tool would be best suited for your flash piece) create a
bitmap that covers the entire canvas.

8) Highlight the bitmap you just created, go to the behaviors tab and select Web > Go to Web
Page. This is where you will place the link that you copied earlier.

9) While you still have the bitmap highlighted change the transparency of both the fill and stroke
to 0%. This can be done in the Color Mixer.

10) Right click on the bitmap and convert it to a symbol, you will want it to be a button.

11) Save the flash piece as a movie (File > Export > Export Movie).

12) Now that you have saved the flash you will want to get it in the sites media folder, you can do
so using any file upload (I usually use Advertising > Advertisers).

13) Copy the path of the file you just uploaded. It should look something like this:

/Media/AdvertisingAdvertisers/your_flash_file.swf

14) Now that you have the appropriate file extension you can go back to the record that you had
created earlier in the Ad Banner Manager and place the following script in the code field (be sure
to select the radio button for code):

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swfla
sh.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="110" height="90">
            <param name="movie" value="Flash file to go here">
            <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed src="Flash file to go here" quality="high"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="110" height="90"></embed>
</object>

* The above script can be found in our script library.

15) The next step is to plug in the appropriate file extension (the one you had copied earlier) in
the areas bolded below:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swfla
sh.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="110" height="90">
            <param name="movie" value="Flash file to go here">
            <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed src="Flash file to go here" quality="high"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="110" height="90"></embed>
</object>

Once you are done with this step it should look something like this:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swfla
sh.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="110" height="90">
            <param name="movie"
value="/Media/AdvertisingAdvertisers/your_flash_file.swf">
            <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed
src="/Media/AdvertisingAdvertisers/your_flash_file.swf" quality="high"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="110" height="90"></embed>
</object>

16) Now you can define the dimensions of your flash. The areas where you can do are denoted
below in bold text:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swfla
sh.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="110" height="90">
            <param name="movie"
value="/Media/AdvertisingAdvertisers/your_flash_file.swf">
            <param name="quality" value="high">
            <embed
src="/Media/AdvertisingAdvertisers/your_flash_file.swf" quality="high"
pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="110" height="90"></embed>
</object>

17) You can now submit the record in the Ad Banner Manager.
