Overview
Select the source file(s)
Select the Save Folder
Select the Output Format
Select / Enter Video Options
Click the Convert button
Step-by-step Guide.
On running the Prism Video File Converter the main window below appears.
Click the ‘Add File(s)’ icon at the top-left of the toolbar. Browse to the file(s) you wish to convert. Multiple files can be selected by
holding down the ‘CTRL’ key whilst selecting the files. Click the ‘Open’ button to add the selected files to the list. Alternatively
Drag and Drop the files for conversion onto the list.
If you wish to change the location where the converted files will be saved, click the ‘Browse...’ button and select a folder then
click the ‘OK’ button to set the new location.
Click the ‘Video Options...’ button to get the Video Output Options window shown below.
To convert the video for Windows XP Movie Maker:
Select the ‘Resize Video’ checkbox.
Select the other options as shown opposite.
Ensure that the width is set to 640.
Ensure that the height is set to 480.
The height and width values can be typed directly into the appropriate boxes.
Click the ‘OK’ button to confirm the settings.
Back on the main window click the ‘Convert’ button to begin the conversion process.
The time taken for conversion will vary depending upon a number of factors. These include; the size of the file(s) selected for
conversion (the length of the selected clips), the number of selected clips, the specifications of the computer performing the
conversion and whether the computer is performing other tasks in addition to converting the files.
Converting the video is best done as a background or out-of-hours task (set it going and leave it) as it can take a long time to
complete.
